Random Thoughts on Motherhood, Politics and Books. Thursday, September 24, 2009. Is it so small a thing to have enjoy'd the sun? I recently attended a book club meeting in which we discussed. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. One of the main characters, Elizabeth, has a quote she repeats frequently, "Is it so small a thing to have enjoy'd the sun." My husband and I looked up the quote and discovered that it is from. The Hymn of Empedocles by Matthew Arnold:. Is it so small a thing. Why a...

Musings from Texas: Swimming at Dusk
http://czarinatx.blogspot.com/2010/06/swimming-at-dusk.html
Random Thoughts on Motherhood, Politics and Books. Thursday, June 10, 2010. Our family has started this new summer trend: we are going swimming in our neighborhood pool after 7pm. It is the best idea we have had! First, there are very few people at the pool at that time. Therefore, one does not have to deal with a crowded pool and a crowded parking lot. Two, you don't need to wear sunblock! And finally, my baby girl gets the baby pool all to herself. She loves that! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Random Thoughts on Motherhood, Politics and Books. Sunday, March 29, 2009. Texas Round-up, Here I Come. I am not sure why I was so nervous about the 10k I walked/ran today. I loved it. Absolutely loved it. I didn't die (not yet anyway). My brain didn't swell. And they do have porta-potties along the route! I loved it so much that I am considering running the Texas Round-up 5 K on April 25th. . Thursday, March 26, 2009. What did I get myself into? I will be fine. I will be fine. I will be fi...Tuesd...

Musings from Texas: Living the Vegan Life
http://czarinatx.blogspot.com/2010/06/living-vegan-life.html
Random Thoughts on Motherhood, Politics and Books. Monday, June 21, 2010. Living the Vegan Life. Have I mentioned that we are trying to eat Vegan for one year? It is not as hard as it sounds. The hard part is explaining it to your friends, your loved ones, and to random people that ask you about it. Most people think we are crazy for eating this way. The part I find most frustrating is that if they only took a few hours to read about it, they would not be asking so many questions. Why don't you eat meat?

Random Thoughts on Motherhood, Politics and Books. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. A Day of Rest. I am finally starting to feel well again and I am thinking about going in to school to help with the third grade fundraiser. Part of me really wants to be there, but the other part of me thinks I should just stay home and let my body completely recover before I immerse myself in activity again. Thursday, January 22, 2009. What I Want to Be When I Grow Up. To being an aerospace engineer. And so off I went to Stan...

Random Thoughts on Motherhood, Politics and Books. Tuesday, March 30, 2010. One of the big items on Obama's agenda before his election was his promise of bipartisanship. Sounded good to everyone. Bipartisanship means both parties compromise to put out legislation that benefits the majority of the people. Fast forward a year and a half. My question is why are we still trying to play fair when it appears that no one else is? You can call it obstructionism or hypocrisy, but it's called politics, people.

Random Thoughts on Motherhood, Politics and Books. Wednesday, May 4, 2011. I think Osama's death is a significant step in bringing closure to 9-11, but really is his death going to end the Al-Qaida movement or terrorism? Not really. NPR has a great story. Random Thoughts on Motherhood, Politics and Books. Friday, July 30, 2010. I have posted before about the joys of travelling with the family by car to far away places. Once again, this summer we loaded up the van, strapped in the kids, and off we went to explore the Eastern part of the U.S. What a wonderful 20 days! After that, we did a quick stop at the Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot. But we finally made it and had a wonderful time visiting with all the cousins in Tennessee. The ne...
