Repurpose | Texiera Andrews

Class: 127B Studio Practice in Sustainable Design. I received twenty recycled glass test tubes to repurpose for rapid reuse as a small household object. Using two pieces of scrapped copper I salvaged from a construction site, I designed two different shaped shelves. I drilled ten holes on the top of each shelf and a sheet metal break to bend the copper. These shelves can be used for fresh flowers or fitted with a cork top to make a spice display in the kitchen. Shields Library at the University of California, Davis. Class: 180A Advanced Interior Design Instructional Spaces. I was tasked to redesign the north lobby area at the Shields Library. Given the recent trend in academic library design, I added a coffee bar with informal seating. My design research led me to unique shaped tables allowing many formation possibilities.
