For muscly guys and pretty gals. Oh, they will make a line that’s long. To purchase treats for just a song. Like butter brickle and creamsickle. Or a pickle for a nickle. There’ll be an awning red and white. A neon sign to light the night. Big jukebox filled with forty fives. A jangly bell when someone arrives.

Ma'a salama Oman, Konichiwa Japan! Checking out yet another place as we continue to unintentionally globe-trot. How I awoke today. The power had gone out. Not sure when and no reason why. It heats up pretty quick around here and having no A/C is not much fun at all. Fortunately it came back on within a couple hours just when I was about to lose my mind. And it wasn't like we could take cold showers to cool off (see a post a few weeks ago re the hot tap water). Gonna be another hot one! The 10ths of 2010.

Ma'a salama Oman, Konichiwa Japan! Checking out yet another place as we continue to unintentionally globe-trot. Henna is a plant. It is a thick green paste that women wear to keep themselves cool in the summer. Women can get it on their feet too. You put on the green paste and let it dry for 1 hour until it is all light green and then you wash it off and it will be orange. the next day it will be a brownish redish color. Well it will be brighter on your palm than any where else. Written by Mira age 9.

From Texas to Africa
From Texas to Africa. Looking back at 2012 and getting freaking PUMPED in 2013. Wednesday, January 2, 2013. Can I say freaking in a christian blog post? Well now that I've said it twice, I guess it's okay. 2012 was an incredible year. I mean, I loved the HECK out of 2012. I'm not sure if it was because I go to a university that glorifies that number 12 more than any other number or because God truly changed my life. New doors opened in my life in a way that I had never seen before. After saying goodb...

Texas Toasty | Looking for adventure around every corner.
Looking for adventure around every corner. April 13, 2015. Learning Japanese Progress Update #1. Back in November, I wrote a little blog post. About my plans for learning Japanese. Here’s a little update. So where am I in Rosetta Stone? Since the last time I wrote, I moved on from Level 1, Unit 1…to Level 1, Unit 2. Yep, that’s it. I’m not very proud of this. I haven’t spent nearly as much time with the program as I should. However, I did start taking a Japanese class. Continue reading →. January 29, 2015.
