Texas Things: Longhorn cattle
http://txthings.blogspot.com/2010/02/longhorn-cattle.html
160;Sunday, February 14, 2010. Since the span from tip to tip of their horns can reach up to 7 feet (average 36-48 inches) Longhorn as a name seems appropriate. (Photo courtesy of Clinton and Charles Robertson. From Del Rio, Texas and San Marcos, Texas, USA). The breed is claimed to do well in warmer climates. This girl is my favorite. Her black nose and black socks. Her with her new born calf down by the tank. ("Pond" to you folks in the northern land.) This photo was taken by my sweetie. In a larger map.

Texas Things: Texas Barbecue and a Lockhart Ghost Ad
http://txthings.blogspot.com/2010/05/ghost-ads-of-lockhart.html
Texas Barbecue and a Lockhart Ghost Ad. 160;Saturday, May 15, 2010. Lockhart home of the barbecue battling siblings. And part of the Texas barbecue trail from Elgin and Taylor to Luling. Texans love their barbecue in the form of beef. Sauce, on the side (if at all), is usually a smoky or spicy blend of each establishment's creation. Dry rubs and mops of sauces are sometimes used to create that signature taste. Posted by Tufa Girl. 160; July 14, 2010 at 10:50 AM. Love the sign also :). In a larger map.

Texas Things: Texas Horned Lizard
http://txthings.blogspot.com/2010/08/texas-horned-lizard.html
160;Wednesday, August 25, 2010. The Texas Horned Lizard. The horned lizard is popularly called a "horned toad," "horny toad," or "horned frog," but it is neither a toad nor a frog. The popular names come from the lizard's rounded body and blunt snout, which give it a decidedly toad-like or frog-like appearance. ( Phrynosoma. Literally means "toad-bodied." Cornutum. Means "horned.") The lizard's horns are extensions of its cranium and are composed of true bone. From Wikipedia and other sources as linked.

Hamilton Texas - Veterans Day Anvil Shoot. 160;Thursday, November 11, 2010. 93rd annual Anvil Shoot held in Hamilton, Texas (about 100 miles south east of Fort Worth), November 11, 2010. Today, still using the original 2 anvils and the metal rod from a windmill to light the gunpowder. The tradition of the anvil shoot started in 1918 at the end of World War I when a local blacksmith wanted to celebrate and notify the town that the war was over. I can honestly say "Only in Texas.". Texas Things: Cadillac Ranch
http://txthings.blogspot.com/2010/09/cadillac-ranch.html
160;Tuesday, September 28, 2010. Photos from our trip December 2006. Way back when the cars were first planted they were their original beautiful factory colors. Graffiti happens and the next time when I went by to view the ranch the owner had painted all the cars a medium blue. I do not usually care for graffiti but this version is much better.
