Fresh from the Brewer. An off-the-wall Christian column and blog. Friday, November 26, 2010. My mom is in her sixties, my grandmother in her eighties and all of us kids are in our forties now. I’m not sure how Mom and Nana thought our family would turn out but I think that one scene in mama’s house on Thanksgiving day was as much of a success story as any mama or grand mama can ever hope for. -They have kids that love each other. God would rather call you family than call you a servant. ( yeah, it tu...

Fresh from the Brewer. An off-the-wall Christian column and blog. Friday, December 3, 2010. A WIMP FREE CHRISTMAS. Fear and Loathing in Las-Christmas. If there is anything I know about Christmas , it is that Christmas is not for wimps. Its always been like that. From the very beginning Christmas has not been for the faint of heart. When you consider all the mess and stress that goes with Christmas time you might be tempted to wonder if the hassle is even worth it. That is until you catch a glimpse of...

Fresh from the Brewer. An off-the-wall Christian column and blog. Friday, July 30, 2010. The High Way of His Way. In Beckenham, England. A young boy named Peter Frampton was a big fan of Buddy Holly. He had recently discovered his grandmother's ukulele in the attic and taught himself to play. He went from there to teaching himself to play guitar and later piano. At age eight he started taking classical music lessons. Peter and David would spend time together at lunch breaks, playing Buddy Holly songs.

When it comes to boxing, most would agree that Cassias Clay, also known to the world over as Muhammad Ali, is the greatest heavy weight boxer—ever. 8220;He has no business being as fast as he is. I never saw that right hand,” said Bob Foster, the world light heavyweight champion, after his fight with Ali. 8216;I am the greatest! I think about people who are perceived as the best at what they do:...

Fresh from the Brewer. An off-the-wall Christian column and blog. Friday, September 24, 2010. 15 YEARS AND COUNTING. For example paper is the traditional gift for a first anniversary. I think this can be misinterpreted. I can see some hillbilly in Johnson County right now, “Here ya go honey, I got this here roll of Charmin for ya.” We might need to clarify. I’ve got a crystal clear view of the past 15 years: living from sermon to sermon. There are so many things I would love to do over and so m...So here...

Fresh from the Brewer. An off-the-wall Christian column and blog. Friday, March 19, 2010. When I was a kid, my mom married my step dad and I soon found myself spending a lot of time on his incredible farm, southwest of Alvarado. Back then, that whole area was what we indigenous folk call. I was scared Big foot or Grandma Moses or what my great grandfather called “. Raw head and bloody bones”. I am not six years old anymore and 37 years later, iv shot my own fair share of coyotes but I believe God let tha...

http://freshfromthebrewer.blogspot.com/2010/11/allergy-attack.html
Fresh from the Brewer. An off-the-wall Christian column and blog. Thursday, November 18, 2010. The weather has changed. All of us fat people rejoice at cooler temperatures as my angelic weather vein points north from the roof of my house. While the digits on the thermometer fall I also become aware of my nasal cavity like no other time of year. The wind is blowing and so is my nose. The Mayo clinic, which has nothing to do with mayonnaise, says an allergy is an exaggerated immune response or reaction to ...

Fresh from the Brewer. An off-the-wall Christian column and blog. Friday, August 27, 2010. We all need favor. In the early 1900s, a 16-year-old girl, named Mildred, from Alabama gave birth to a baby girl and named her Julia Jean Mildred Frances Turner. As if all those names weren’t enough, she went by the nickname, “Judy.”. John’s lack of work didn’t keep him from playing cards, and on December 14, 1930, he won a bit of money from some traveling gamblers. Six years later, Judy was a sophomore at Hollywoo...
