Oil painting fall 2008. Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Do a little research on the history of oil paint. Where does it come from? What is it made of? When was it invented? Using your experiences this term, the concepts and terms we’ve discussed in class, and examples from art history to back up your opinions answer the following question:. Nessa's blog: What is a Portrait?
http://vpicspainting.blogspot.com/2008/10/what-is-portrait.html
Saturday, October 25, 2008. What is a Portrait? A portrait is a painting or picture that depicts a person's face through visuals and color. A portrait captures a person's characteristics and mood at a certain time. Photo realism is when a lot of detail and normal everyday items are used to make an image look like a photo. Pointillism is a style using tiny dots of color to produce a cohesive painting. Giuseppe Arcimboldo really arranges the books well to compose the nose, cheek, and lips of the face.

Friday, October 31, 2008. Process of Surface and Texture Painting. Isn't it interesting how this painting is moving along so much faster than the white objects one? Why do you think that is? November 3, 2008 at 9:24 AM. I think i am moving much faster because i know what to do now and i am accostumbed to using oil paint. i have learned from the white objects and i know what are my strenghts and what i need to work on. Nessa's blog: Reflection on White Objects Painting
http://vpicspainting.blogspot.com/2008/10/reflection-on-white-objects-painting.html
Saturday, October 18, 2008. Reflection on White Objects Painting. Completing the White Objects painting was a real challenge for me because I had a tough time adding the shadows, making highlights, and getting the right color and texture of the fabric. I spent too long outlining the objects and fixing one part at a time. I finished the painting yet I do not feel as though i really completely finished it. I would have worked more on adding details to the fabric and the cups. October 23, 2008 at 7:17 AM.
