http://nttextualcriticism.blogspot.com/2011/01/codex-vaticanus-book-borders-cont.html
Monday, January 17, 2011. Codex B Borders ( cont. Here is a photo of the Ending of Mark, showing one of the rare places where the scribe(s) has left a whole blank column between books. This is unusual, as the photos of every other border show. (Click on the slideshow on right for a good look at the borders between O.T. books for instance). In discussing this blank column, James Snapp Jr. Quotes Dean John Burgon as follows:. The Last Twelve Verses.Vindicated. Copyist was writing before and after the blank...

Friday, April 22, 2011. I'm quoting for educational purposes and review an excerpt from Barry B. Powell. Wiley-Blackwell, 2007). It has a great introduction to the problem of the difference betweeen printed Greek texts and actual manuscripts:. Certainly Plato could not have read the first printed text of Homer, nor can a modern scholar without special training, even a professor who has spent an entire lifetime teaching and studying Greek. 1759-1808 [by which the. If you study Greek today, and take a cour...

A Measure of Faith. Investigating the collision of faith, science and reason. This page is primarily for my own reference as a reminder of the books and sites I’ve discovered and that I want to read or revisit. Feel free to suggest any additions that you think would be particularly relevant. The lists are constantly growing and I suspect many books (maybe most) will never be read, but at least I have something to choose from. I am now managing my reading list on goodreads.com. Huperborea: What a Long Strange Trip It Has Been...
http://huperborea.blogspot.com/2010/01/what-long-strange-trip-it-has-been.html
Friday, January 29, 2010. What a Long Strange Trip It Has Been. I did not expect to end up spending the night with PZ Myers. I also did not expect to be asked to defend Kurt Gödel. Which I was unprepared to do. (Although, even if I were prepared, I do not think I could have done it justice as a critical respondent among an, umm, unsympathetic. Audience.) I give credit to PZ for unexpectedly turning the tables and essentially catching me flat-footed; it won't happen again. I will write more later.

Huperborea: The casuistry of the man who would be Archon of California
http://huperborea.blogspot.com/2010/08/casuistry-of-man-who-would-be-archon-of.html
Saturday, August 21, 2010. The casuistry of the man who would be Archon of California. Over at Volokh Conspiracy. Orin Kerr asked SSM advocates when the Constitution began to require it. I love that question because SSM advocates come off as vapid no matter how they answer it. If they say it always has (or date it to the ratification of the 14th or some other amendment) then one can reply, "So, you know the Constitution better than the people who wrote and amended it? Huperborea: April 2005

Saturday, April 16, 2005. Ed Brayton on the Judiciary. No Tom [De Lay], the reason we have a separation of church and state is because the first amendment was designed specifically to create one.". The establishment clause was meant to apply to the Federal government. And the reason we have judicial review is because Article III was intended for precisely that purpose.". Here is the relevant text of Article III. How does someone get to be a pretentious, deluded classical liberal without reading Jefferson.
