Textile-tally

Wednesday, 11 January 2017. Lots of work in progress. I seem to have a lot of work in progress at the moment and can't quite decide which to work on first. The lovely yarn is a Moorland Yarn Pack. Which I received for Christmas and enables me to join the CAL started by Lucy from Attic24 last Friday. Unusually for me, I did do the test samples to check the gauge and hook size needed. Consequently I am only on the 8th colour out of 20 for this week so may take a bit longer than expected. Links to this post.

Textile-tally: March 2016

http://textiletally.blogspot.com/2016_03_01_archive.html

Monday, 21 March 2016. I have been having fun with these over the weekend. The pattern is taken from this month's Making magazine which is a crochet special which I happened upon while doing some completely unrelated shopping and couldn't resist! They are unblocked so look a bit higgledy piggledy. The blanket is called "double bed or sofa blanket" which does not really do it justice. The yarn I used is stylecraft double knit special. More crochet to share soon. Links to this post. Sunday, 13 March 2016.

Textile-tally: December 2014

http://textiletally.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, 6 December 2014. This is a cushion I made this week as a present. I started with a simple patchwork using 4" squares. The piece of patchwork was then quilted onto a piece of wadding. I used to add a third layer behind the wadding as you would for a quilt, but if it is destined to be a cushion it's not really needed. The quilting was done on the machine using a walking foot,. Making tram lines either side of each seam. The whole project can easily be completed in an evening. Have a good weekend!

Textile-tally: April 2016

http://textiletally.blogspot.com/2016_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 27 April 2016. This little needle case was another quick project that jumped the queue. I am planning a sewing box for a present and this is the start,. Along with a box of shiny pins and some 3" squares. I am thinking scissors, thread, felt squares and some more 3" cotton ones, buttons and a popper or two. What else is there that would be essential for an 8 year old do you think? The garden is really coming to life now despite the recent spell of cold weather here. Links to this post. If ther...

Textile-tally: Christmas Wreath

http://textiletally.blogspot.com/2016/12/finished-for-2016-having-started-this.html

Monday, 12 December 2016. Having started this last year it is finally finished and on the door. I am a real fan of Lucy's work at Attic 24 and have always been inspired by her beautiful wreaths. She generously shares her methods and so I set to work in November of 2015 covering a polystyrene base as she describes. With one thing and another my wreath didn't get further than the base last year, but it was put carefully to one side and last month I set to work again, this time with a head start.

Textile-tally: January 2017

http://textiletally.blogspot.com/2017_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 18 January 2017. In the nick of time. Just to share this one before it goes off to be delivered. Luckily there was some lovely light this morning to catch it but I suddenly realised that the spot I had chosen was really a bit messy if you pan out. The watering can has most definitely seen better days. And the upturned yellow trug has holes in but I keep it to clean out the chickens! Anyway, the cushion is finished on time and that's the main thing so I am off. Links to this post. I seem to hav...

Thursday, January 29, 2015. A new distraction arrived in the post, I haven't tried the Aquatint inks before and I am looking forward to playing with them soon. Time to make some colour swatches. I was getting ready for Helfa Gelf last time I posted, it went well and I sold quite a few things, but I have decided its not for me, and I won't be participating in the future. The last few years have been great mainly due to the lovely ladies I was exhibiting with in Arial Arts. I saw the cosy blanket on. I can...

Textile Tantrums

I am obsessed with fibres, thread, cloth, paint and all things textiles! Unfortunately I am also a procrastinator extraodinarire who spends more time reading, surfing the net and admiring the materials than creating! I struggle to translate my ideas into textiles - hence the tantrums! Thursday, July 26, 2007. Creativity Course and Dyeing Fabric. Hand dyed silk artist. Hello, I’m Jacquie, a self-taught textile artist based in West Yorkshire, specialising in hand dyed silk using the ancient Japanese method of Shibori to produce unique pieces of wearable art. Constantly surprised and inspired by the beauty and unpredictability of the natural world, I might find myself influenced by such things as an imposing storm cloud, a still blue sky, the chaos of the ocean or a stunning spiral galaxy.
