Nietzsche in Farsi: August 2012
http://nietzscheinfarsi.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
A blog about the battle between materialism and pretention. My last post was timestamped to over a year ago, so it seems appropriate to look back on some of the big purchases made between then and now. Overall, I've been consistent. It's impressive and refreshing to see people reinventing their look over time, but I can't seem to stray away from "cutesy," Zooey Deschanel-worthy fashions: Peter Pan collars, puffed sleeves, and pretty prints. Case in point:. 1 year ago (2011). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Nietzsche in Farsi: Purses of perfection
http://nietzscheinfarsi.blogspot.com/2011/07/purses-of-perfection.html
A blog about the battle between materialism and pretention. Influenced by the notion of building up a wardrobe of few, high quality pieces. My sister is now looking for an "investment" purse. And because I am a voracious online shopper, I decided to compile a (rather belated) list to help her out on the quest. I've currently been eying the Hermes Constance handbag, which is absolutely beautiful in its clean lines and structured appearance (plus, I love this color below):. The studs on the bottom are abso...

Nietzsche in Farsi: A review of when reading temporarily took over
http://nietzscheinfarsi.blogspot.com/2011/06/review-of-when-reading-temporarily-took.html
A blog about the battle between materialism and pretention. A review of when reading temporarily took over. I read two and a half books during my whirlwind two-week vacation - the 0.5 was a book lent by my travel buddy that I carelessly left on the train - and for the two weeks following that - up 'til now - reading consumed me. At home, there's too many distractions. But within the past four weeks, unusually, I've been able to read the following books:. Love in the Time of Cholera. By Suzanne Collins: f...

Nietzsche in Farsi: January 2010
http://nietzscheinfarsi.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
A blog about the battle between materialism and pretention. My body has been reacting badly to the idea of the new year, articulating its displeasure through itchy patches of skin. It started with the ribcage, quickly caught to the neck and behind the ear (a favored spot from childhood), extending its reach to upper calf of my leg (right below the knee) before finding the inner part of my elbow. (I'm dreading and hoping against that natural dialectic of symmetry.). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Nietzsche in Farsi: December 2010
http://nietzscheinfarsi.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
A blog about the battle between materialism and pretention. My Christmas baking endeavor: a retrospective. Although I'd initially planned on baking linzers for Christmas, it so happened that I baked madeleines instead (really, at my mother's insistence and assistance). My madeleine recipe of choice is Patricia Wells' "tea cakes". From her The Food Lover's Guide to Paris. Recommended by a Slate article dissecting Proust's madeleine knowledge. The author is skeptical, let's just say.). Today, I want:.

Nietzsche in Farsi: June 2009
http://nietzscheinfarsi.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
A blog about the battle between materialism and pretention. I opened the oven. Pictures of apple pie ruin to be posted.). Not its best picture. How pointless is it, to buy two jars of peanut butter and jelly when one can buy the two, swirled together in one jar, for your convenience? How pointless it is, to cook for yourself when someone else can do it for you. Changes of attitude may be posted some time in the future. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The View from Chrissy's Closet.

Nietzsche in Farsi: November 2009
http://nietzscheinfarsi.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
A blog about the battle between materialism and pretention. When did keeping a diary come to be seen as feminine? This question occurred to me after reading this passage:. The opening lines of the Tosa Diary. State: "It is said that diaries are kept by men, but I shall see if a woman cannot also keep one.". Paul Varley writes in Japanese Culture. The syllabic Japanese script also derived from Chinese. Anyway, it should be an interesting topic of personal research for spring semester.

A blog about the battle between materialism and pretention. I tell myself that I use Polyvore to observe SEO strategies, online community building, and web branding. Hahaha. The modern working girl. By Kim E. F. By Kim E. F. Chocolate chip cookies: my terrible descent into addiction. Tonight, I baked my fourth batch of chocolate chip cookies from December 2010 'til now. My enabler was this chocolate chip cookie recipe. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The View from Chrissy's Closet.
