The TeX Font Server project's objective is to resolve the font problems associated with DVI files by leveraging the WWW facilities; this will remove a major impediment to the portability of DVI files; it will enable anybody using a TFS-aware DVI driver to view and print. DVI document even if the document uses non-standard fonts. It should also enable completely trivial installations of TFS-aware DVI drivers; the user will not have to be a TeX wizard just to view and print DVI documents.
