Michael Caver / PhotoJournal: March 2007
http://michaelcaver.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Michael Caver / PhotoJournal. The journal of an amateur photographer and hiker in the Pacific Northwest. March 06, 2007. So it turned out the floods of last year were not the end of our wild winter weather. To go with our heavy November flooding, a massive windstorm tore through the area the week before Christmas. Gusts of up to 70 mph blew down trees all over the area, taking out power lines and substations, and knocking out power to over a million homes, mine included. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Michael Caver / PhotoJournal. The journal of an amateur photographer and hiker in the Pacific Northwest. August 07, 2009. Weather Dichotomy at Rainier. Afterword I drove down to Stevens Canyon and hit a wall of fog - there. Thinking of going back again tomorrow. PS Trying out some new things with the layout. Please bear with me. Michael Caver / PhotoJournal. The journal of an amateur photographer and hiker in the Pacific Northwest. August 15, 2009. I headed north chasing the clouds, starting at the Mountain Loop Highway out of Granite Falls and seeing how far the day would take me. The first shot to catch my eye was a cascade on Twenty Two Creek, near the trailhead to Lake Twenty Two. I'd noticed it before, but never really stopped to photograph it. It turned out to be the best location of the day. August 08, 2009. Subscribe to:...

Michael Caver / PhotoJournal. The journal of an amateur photographer and hiker in the Pacific Northwest. July 28, 2007. Mount Rainier National Park. Mt Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. West Fork White River. July 21, 2007. The main event for the day was hiking the Glacier Lake Trail. Here's the trip report I posted at NWHikers. I only stopped for photos in one place, just inside the wilderness boundary, where the trees and moss caught my eye. Labels: Gifford Pinchot National Forest. July 14, 2007.

Michael Caver / PhotoJournal: October 2006

Michael Caver / PhotoJournal. The journal of an amateur photographer and hiker in the Pacific Northwest. October 29, 2006. First Snow at Rapid River. October 13, 2006. I did spend some time taking photos on the way back down the valley. The evening sunlight really made the burned forest feel ethereal, but I had a difficult time finding photos. The low angle of the sun in the ridged terrain made for a lot of shadows. One mountain in particular did stick out, so I focuesed on it and tried to ma...After the...

Michael Caver / PhotoJournal. The journal of an amateur photographer and hiker in the Pacific Northwest. June 29, 2007. An interesting thing I learned today: you can completely remove a rainbow from a photograph by rotating the polarizer to the right spot. Makes sense, but I had no idea. June 16, 2007. June 09, 2007. A little farther ahead, a side trail lead down to the river edge across from the base of the waterfall. It was actually more runoff channel than trail, and the pack full of camera gear m...

Michael Caver / PhotoJournal. The journal of an amateur photographer and hiker in the Pacific Northwest. November 17, 2006. Not to keep harping on this but the flood damage is so devastating, particularly at Mount Rainier National Park. This has already become the wettest November on record for Seattle, and is very close to becoming the wettest of any month at all. And there's more storms coming. These photos are from the National Park Service. Grove of the Patriarchs. November 15, 2006. November 07, 2006.
