Composed of several islands and home to 35 H&Ms (plus one new COS store - an H&M off-shoot with a nice website. A post apocalyptic fountain from the 1980s, and a bevy of beautiful people gracing its streets, Stockholm did not disappoint. Our study trip to Denmark ended with a visit to the Bagsværd Community Church, designed by Danish architect, Jørn Utzon. As you can see from the photo above, the church presents itself as an industrial building, hiding its true function inside, creating a sense of exclusivity and hidden beauty. The ceilings are quite dramatic, to say the least. And the Economist Building.

The Friday morning market was in full swing and with the rest of the stores closing at noon for midsummer, it was the place to be. After the market we toured around the neighbourhood adjacent to the President's palace and I spied this Alvar Aalto gem (on the right). Upon closer inspection, I noticed that each of the skylights were equipped with lamps to illuminate the space below during the long winters. Seems like an afterthought.
