This blog will consist of various thoughts and resources on things Christian. Wednesday, 1 January 2014. Thoughts - The Real Problem of Hell. Seeing as it is New Year I thought I would write a nice cheery message on hell! One of the most common “objections” to God is the so-called problem of hell. In this essay we will look at three issues:. Hell and a God of love. Eternal torment or annihilationism. The real problem of hell. Hell and a God of Love. Eternal Torment or Annihilationism. Currently there is ...

Resources and Thoughts: June 2015

This blog will consist of various thoughts and resources on things Christian. Thursday, 4 June 2015. Sex is very important. Why is that, if that isn't too obvious a question? Because, according to the current world view, two people should be allowed to express their “love” for each other. What does the Bible say? The biblical view is that sex must be confined for one place and one place only, and that is the marriage between one man and one woman. Why does the Bible place this restriction? The reason tha...

Resources and Thoughts: November 2014

This blog will consist of various thoughts and resources on things Christian. Sunday, 2 November 2014. Why the New Testament says little about the virgin birth. Well consider this. Can I “prove” the virgin birth? And that is why the New Testament is full of stuff about the resurrection, but says little about the virgin birth. Both are true, both are vital, but only one of them had evidence that could be presented to the world. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Why the New Testament says little about the virgin.

This blog consists of various thoughts on the Word of God. Tuesday, 30 June 2015. John 9:17-19 - Doubting miracles. 8221;, with an angry intonation. When reading the Bible we need to recognise that often we are not dealing with reasoned academic statements, we are not reading a paper submitted to a learned journal. If we are to appreciate what is happening we need to remember the emotions of the people involved. So the man’s parents were summoned. Monday, 29 June 2015. So the Pharisees asked the man how ...

Bible Musings: February 2015
http://dundeebeliever.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
This blog consists of various thoughts on the Word of God. Saturday, 28 February 2015. John 1:24,25 - Who can baptise? This is meant to be a verse by verse study, but there are some very short verses in John, so the rule will be broken every now and then. As mentioned earlier, only priests were meant to baptise. So if John was no one special ( ie not the Messiah, not the Prophet, not Elijah) why was he doing so? Friday, 27 February 2015. John 1:22,23 - Who is John the Baptist? After the Babylonian captiv...

Bible Musings: March 2015
http://dundeebeliever.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
This blog consists of various thoughts on the Word of God. Tuesday, 31 March 2015. John 3:24-26 - Who's the best baptiser? Verse 24 at first glance appears superfluous, but it actually shows an awareness of what Mark (Mk 1:14) had written, and John is making clear that these events took place before the imprisonment of John the Baptist. Monday, 30 March 2015. John 3:22,23 - Baptism. Baptism really is an awkward subject. It is important, these two verse make that clear, as do the words of Jesus in the...

Again we need to make sure we do not apply our soppy idea of love! If all the disciples had was an emotional/sentimental attachment to Jesus they would indeed be sad. But if they understood the whole plan, if they were committed to Jesus and the fulfilling of God’s plan then they would be glad. Sunday, 30 August 2015.

Bible Musings: John 12:25-26 - Where I am, my servant will also be

This blog consists of various thoughts on the Word of God. Monday, 3 August 2015. John 12:25-26 - Where I am, my servant will also be. So we must follow Jesus and go along the same path of obedience that He followed, but this is not all cost in this life. For we will be with Jesus and the Father will honour us. This is the choice before us in life. Will we follow Jesus or go our own way? Do we want a life without God or a life with God? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). John 14:28-31 - Going away.

Bible Musings: April 2015
http://dundeebeliever.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
This blog consists of various thoughts on the Word of God. Thursday, 30 April 2015. John 5:28-30 - Do not be amazed. The Jewish leaders were outraged at Jesus’ claims, and the man in the street doesn’t expect Jesus to actually be God, but Jesus tells us not to be amazed at what He is saying. Yet it does seem amazing to us, why is this? This verse is very interesting. Let’s look at it (and therefore obviously at the preceding verse as well as it is part of the same sentence! This blog consists of various thoughts on the Word of God. Saturday, 31 January 2015. Revelation 19:14-21 - King of Kings, Lord of Lords. The armies of heaven were following the Lord. These may be angelic beings, but 17:14 refers to his faithful followers being with Him, and the fine linen reference is similar to 19:8. Then we get another name "King of Kings, Lord of Lords" (cf 17:14). Friday, 30 January 2015. Revelation 19:11-13 - Jesus the victor. Thursday, 29 January 2015. We now hear a great rejoicin...
