Site to manage my Japanese Embroidery progress, plus other needlework projects. Thursday, January 12, 2017. It turned out to be more difficult than I imagined, judging by how many times I had to rip and re-stitch a section. It turned out well; I prefer not adding most of the outlines as specified by the instructions. Here's the original. Posted by H Gotts. Saturday, January 7, 2017. More Gatsby, Tools. Site to manage my Japanese Embroidery progress, plus other needlework projects. Wednesday, May 11, 2016. Master Craftsman Step on Illusion. The theme of this step is illusions: luminosity, iridescence, luster, and transparency. I am attempting luminosity and luster. After 8 attempts, I think I got it. I'm going to call this Moon River. This is based on an attempt from several years ago:. Moon on black background. One of the earlier tries this time:. The second to last that almost made it:. 65 x 5 inches,...

Site to manage my Japanese Embroidery progress, plus other needlework projects. Thursday, December 22, 2016. I ordered some Southern Belle white cotton before I read that it's not as good as it once was. It appears to be thinner than the Southern Belle I ordered from Trish Burr several years ago. Hopefully it will hold up to the stitching. Posted by H Gotts. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Happy Holidays from Gatsby. How about a variation on a theme? Site to manage my Japanese Embroidery progress, plus other needlework projects. Sunday, January 1, 2017. Wishing You a Happy New Year from Gatsby. The new stitch I learned for Whitework is the eyelet stitch - it's a lot of fun poking a large hole in the fabric, except I have to re-stretch the fabric to be drum tight after that. Well there are a lot of eyelet stitches coming. I tried using a lighter color for the beads background but it turns out the black looks the best, and balances the eye lashes,.

Well, my teacher Laura would not let me get away with a sloppy job. Based on her comments, I fixed the tops of the two front hills, and slightly grayed out the left hill. Since I had to restitch the left hill, I fixed the poppy center that I didn't like, and added more fronds. Posted by H Gotts. Saturday, August 20, 2016. Posted by H Gotts. Thursday, August 18, 2016. Sunday, April 7, 2013. Sunday quiet and rainy, contemplating an odd photo of Blondie. Photo of Blondie, the cat who eats on our front steps 3 or 4 times a day. My Olympus FE-115 sometimes behaves oddly and produces unintended "effects." I didn't notice it when I uploaded this image. It is chilling and possibly plain icky. If you look at Blondie's forehead you will clearly see the image of a rat. Did I capture a visible thought of Blondie? Is Blondie a shape shifter? Or is it the image of a kitten's face?

Finding golden moments in everyday. Monday, 14 January 2013. How easy it is to get lost in this place. The shoulds, the coulds, the better do this, can't do that. How easy it is to lose the bits of you that make you - you. Falling, failing, losing the fight. Feeling the wind, the chill, the rain. Outrunning that black cloud. Will not let it catch me. Linking up with IBOT today over at http:/ essentiallyjess.com/ (sorry about my lame link! Can't figure it out on the iPad! Friday, 4 January 2013. Well you ...
