These are recipes that I use a whole bunch, but I don’t have the patience to keep on writing over and over again. I’ll add to this consistently as I remember certain recipes. 1 8 oz. package cream cheese (not low fat), softened. 1 stick Unsalted Butter, softened. 4 C Powdered Sugar. 1 Tbs Vanilla Extract. Cream together cream cheese and butter in a mixture fitted with the paddle fixture until thoroughly combined, about 1 minute on medium speed. Add in vanilla extract and mix to combine. 1 C Corn Syrup.

An Early Gift | Clara Bakes
https://clarabakes.wordpress.com/2010/08/30/an-early-gift
Wait…it’s 10 P.M…. August 30, 2010. She passed away two years ago, and my grandfather thinks that she is living through me in terms of my baking. “Pound-A-Butter Betty” has come through to me as “Pound-A-Butter Clara”, I feel honored with the title, and I wanted to make something special for him for his 90th birthday. So I made him Mamo’s Lemon Pound Cake. Did it taste like tangy lemonade? Did it taste like sweet lemon curd? Behold, the old-fashioned pound cake. I went a pretty straight-forward way. ...

This feller took forever to create, but it was so much fun to play with as well. Wait, what am I saying? Don’t blame the butter! The butter did nothing wrong! I don’t like math, but I do it for you all. You can thank me later. Then I have to make this. DO NOT USE LIQUID FOOD COLORS ONLY USE GEL FOOD COLORS! All in all, its a pr...

Key Lime Cheesecake →. July 30, 2011. As you all know, I have discussed pound cake in a past post. I just recently had a hankering to make a pound cake, well, recently as in this morning. Only this time, I wanted to make it orange flavor, utilizing both the zest and the juice to create the most flavorful essence. Okay, I sound like I’m making some sort of perfume here! You have the option of either dunking your cupcakes in the icing. I’ve been trying to get some more ‘food stylist-y’ in...Adapted from th...

Newer posts →. What do you do? March 25, 2011. What do you do when you have a statewide burn ban and homemade marshmallows? You get a kitchen torch. In today’s economy, good investments can be the smallest things. March 22, 2011. Let’s consider chocolate here. Yes, it may be a simple food. Yes it tastes delicious (don’t get me started). Yes…I’m getting started. Dark chocolate is my favorite. Or, to be exact, a cocoa percentage of 60-70 percent is my favorite range. What does this mean? I made the caramel...

Ingredient Substitutions | Clara Bakes
https://clarabakes.wordpress.com/ingredient-substitutions
A lot of recipes ask for specific ingredients. Sometimes, the only time you actually USE the ingredients is in that recipe! When you don’t want to spend the money on something fancy-schmancy you can always just make your own! Luckily, I use a lot of buttermilk already, because a lot of recipes I use has it incorporated. BUT, sometimes I’ll forget to get a new container, or I just don’t want to buy the quart when the store is out of the cute little half-pints! 1 Cup of 2% milk. 1/4 teaspoon baking soda.

Diddy Dum Diddy Do →. August 21, 2011. And then there was our puppy dog, laying on an air conditioning vent, happy as a clam. It was a match made in heaven. Now he just hogs the AC vent. So that begs the question; hot or cold? I am pretty cold-blooded, I get too cold very easily. I even get blue fingernails and purple toes, so a lot of times you will see me inside wearing a zip-up hoodie or a jacket, despite it being 100 degrees outside, AC just makes me too dang cold! I don’t blame him, I don̵...
