The Seagers' Holiday in Botswana 2014. Eighteen days touring in the sun and sand! On the second day we were driven up into the Okavango Delta for a mokoro (traditional hollowed out canoe) ride into the swamps. We followed this by two shortish (about 1 hour) game walks on two different islands. We got close to zebra and a reedbuck but photos were poor as the heat haze distorted things quite a bit and the reedbuck wouldn't stop running! This trip was a very peaceful change to being driven along bush roads.

The Seagers' Holiday in Botswana 2014. Eighteen days touring in the sun and sand! Through the Chobe Game Reserve to Kasane. We did see lots of elephants and giraffes as well as ten lions during the day and we also saw our second leopard. The temperature by early afternoon was around 34 deg C - it was winter! The Seagers' Holiday in Botswana 2014. Eighteen days touring in the sun and sand! Around Kasane and the Victoria Falls. The next day we were driven to Victoria Falls, in neighbouring Zimbabwe. The falls were, as usual, spectacular but the town was packed with police and army. There was a big african Heads of State meeting in town so the security was a bit heavy, to put it mildly. We got wet at the falls as the wind was blowing the spray aver the rainforest. Gaborone and Mokolodi Game Reserve.

David's car had a flat tyre when we woke up the first day and he was foced to drive 200km to Maun to get it replaced. You do not head into the game reserves without a spare! This was a recovery day from the flight so we did a bit of shopping and got driven round the Mokolodi Game Reserve which is just south of Gaborone. We had a fantastic encounter with a giraffe. The Seagers' Holiday in Botswana 2014. Eighteen days touring in the sun and sand! Where we went, in general. This left us with two days to drive back to Gaborone, via an overnight stop in Francistown, to catch our flight back. We did spot a few more elephants but the most interesting was the Blacksmith Plover right next to the layby we used that was pretending to have a broken wing to distract us from its nest.
