cakesinaus: December 2006

Sunday, December 31, 2006. Tis the season to be busy. Sorry for my slackness at updating this, but I do appear to have been the only person on the planet who had to go to work this week! Anyway, it's been a pretty hectic Christmas week, kicking off with a Harbour Cruise and lunch around Sydney Harbour with Bo, Jo and Lou - our Christmas gift to them. The weather was damp (both humid and rainy) and I was a little sea-sick, but it was a lovely relaxing couple of hours. I bought myself a Tiffany ring. Thank...

Monday, November 27, 2006. Busy, busy, busy. Summer is hotting up, and so is my social life! Had a very hectic weekend - I was up in Newcastle, Nelson Bay and the Hunter Valley last week. I had a Great Aunt over from Scotland, so I popped up to Newcastle to see her before she flew back. We went out to Nelson Bay - the first time I had even been - for a wander around the shops and a bite to eat. A great weekend, but man I was exhausted when I finally made it back to Sydney. Sunday, May 28, 2006. It's just like watching Brazil. Just a short post as I don't claim to be the world's expert on football in the UK(soccer to you Aussies), but I was chuffed to wake up this morning to the news that the Super Reds Barnsley FC had been promoted to the first division after what seems to have been a nail-biting play-off in Cardiff. Alas, my time in the UK will no coinside with the season, but I can imagine they were out singing and dancing in the streets of Barnsley last night. I'm wide ...

Friday, June 30, 2006. The one where we arrive in London. The second leg of the trip was a nightmare. we were delayed in Hong Kong three hours, but only after we boarded the plane. Smashing. So all up, the second leg took 17 hours! Either way. Rob was at Heathrow to meet us, thank God, and has safely deposited us in his Lee mansion, complete with internet access, bath and three cats. It's going to be a great trip. Posted by claire @ 2:01 pm. Thursday, June 29, 2006. We're on our way - woohoo! After month...

Wednesday, January 31, 2007. Elvis the Lassie of the Inner West. Our dog Elvis is a small dog and really good natured, but he's become a little yappy in the last few months. He's always running to the front and back of the house in the dead of night, usually barking at birds. And last night was no exception. At 1am he ran downstairs and started his usual carry-on, but he made no attmept to stop and was actually sounding quite hysterical (if you can imagine what an hysterical bark is like). Sunday, Januar...

Thursday, July 27, 2006. Posted by claire @ 2:46 pm. Sunday, July 23, 2006. Just a quick update as I'm runnung to catch a flight to Plymouth for my sister's birthday. Bo is finally home after a flight delay that saw her being put up in one of the swankier Hong Kong hotels until Cathay Pacific could get her on a connecting flight to Sydney. She's home safe and sound, very tired and faced with a power cut! Cheers, Lady Gould xxx. Posted by claire @ 3:02 am. Friday, July 14, 2006. Am up late changing my pla...

Saturday, September 30, 2006. Fine dining in the Harbour City. I'm still struggling to get back into the swing of Australian life, but nothing is more of a leveller than being faced with the icons of your chosen homeland, while eating arguably the best food the city has to offer. Sonia turned 29 this weekend, and by way of celebration, a few of us had lunch at aquadining. At Milsons Point in Sydney. Nestled above a swimming pool and a fun fair, we were met with this sign as we arrived. Back in the house.

Friday, October 13, 2006. Sydney is experienceing a mini-heatwave at the moment, with temperatures hitting 37 degrees at lunchtime today. Subsequently, I've been to the beach twice in 24 hours. I've not been to a beach in Sydney for almost 18 months - a combination of figure envy and work fatigue - but David introduced me to Maroubra beach in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, and I am hooked. Don't get me wrong, Bondi, Coogee and Manly are great, but are over-run with Poms (! Posted by claire @ 11:17 pm.

Thursday, August 31, 2006. Lovely positive news from Spain - I ve been asked to be Charlotte s Godmother and co-legal guardian should anything happen to Jen and Ruick (morbid maybe, but after the fortnight we ve just had its good to plan ahead.). I am thrilled and very honoured. Jen and Charlotte are back in Spain to help Dad and I sort through Mum s belongings etc. My Aunt from Palermo (Dad s sister) is arriving on Sunday for a few days so that will be a happy distraction for us all. Pizza Express. ...
