It's all in the game. The Storks of Böbs. A Very Fine Pair. Pork ribs and a sticky sauce. We where having a discussion on the wildfood board about rib and belly bbq sauces, my dear friend Carol posted what looked like a great one, this I was going to do but I got carried away and made too much, so Carols will have to wait for the weekend when I shall be doing pork belly! I bought a 820g piece of Dickerippe (in Germany this is what is often used in a wonderful winter dish along with Sauerkraut). Now pour ...

It's all in the game. The Storks of Böbs. A Very Fine Pair. Slow roasted shoulder of hoggat and a nice Sundays drive in the sun. Bones ready to be boiled together with freeze dried veg a bit of garlic and a litre of vegetable stock. This was all prepared and strained through a seive ready to add to the sauce that the roast had been cooked over. I wanted to do it real slow, cooked in my blue Aldi cast iron casserole, with loads of vegetables, herbs and spices. In the mean time I made a sauce for the cauli...

It's all in the game. The Storks of Böbs. A Very Fine Pair. This can be done with any part of the rabbit, but I prefer the hind legs as they give equal portions with no faff. 1 Small Chilli (fresh if possible). 1 Table spoon Mustard seeds. 1 clove of garlic. Splash of olive oil. Splash of white wine vinegar. Desert spoon of capers. Squeeze of lemon juice. Blend all together in either a blender or a pestle and mortar, I used both seeds, chillies and onions in the motar and red pepper in the blender. Now a...

It's all in the game. The Storks of Böbs. A Very Fine Pair. Cataplana Porco e Mexhilöes of sorts. Though I had travelled to Portugal in the late 60s and mid 70s, it was either for a footy match (Newcastle against Setubal) or on a ship to Porto to collect wine for Peter Dominic, I had never been to the South of Portugal (Algarve) until 1982. I have over they years tried to replicate the first experience, but have never come anywhere close to it. But the one that follows is pretty dammed good. Oh! A couple...

It's all in the game. The Storks of Böbs. A Very Fine Pair. As said, I parked near to T-Kmax and went down the under pass and was greeted by the wonderful sound of a folk guitarist, (I can stand and listen to street musicians for hours, if they are good, well worth the 2 quid). Coming out into the sunlight, I turned left and started to pick, sausages, cheeses, bits of cake and bread. Returned home in time to go to my mates daughters to watch the late match. Thanks for bearing with me! Links to this post.

It's all in the game. The Storks of Böbs. A Very Fine Pair. Christmas Day and all the trimmings. Kilkeel Harbour on Christmas morning. It was Christmas morning and we had a nice glass of Bubbly and I made the breakfast, well if your going to do it then go overboard. Bob had his porridge and slice of toast and I made Oeuf's Royale for Linda and I. Muffins split, toasted and buttered. A nice slice of ham and some Fois Gras. Topped with a poached egg. And the lot topped off with a dollop of caviar. Http:/ w...

It's all in the game. The Storks of Böbs. A Very Fine Pair. My Birthday Weekend 2011. The Weekend started quiet enough, I had to work on Friday! This meant that I got onto the motorway at 13:00. As it was my Birthday a few friends where putting a surprise party together (it wasn’t a real surprise as one of them couldn’t hold her tongue). It was not a big affair just 5 of our cookery club (Marianne is sunning herself in Cornwall). I wracked my brains (? Autobahn Tom Yum soup. 1 stalk of lemon grass. 7 lar...

It's all in the game: A Birthday BBQ
http://spotteddick-itsallinthegame.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-birthday-bbq.html
It's all in the game. The Storks of Böbs. A Very Fine Pair. The BBQ weekend in August. Up early I had been down to get some wild boar collar from my freezer. I next popped into Lidl to get some pork schnitzel meat. I had bought large frozen prawns from the fishmonger (Gosh) in our local Citti Markt on Thursday these had been slowly defrosting in the fridge. All of the rest of the herbs and spices I had or would come out of the garden. The scene thus set, I set about making the koftes. 1 kg of mixed mince.
