Musings from a missionary mama. He who calls will be faithful to carry it out…. Asymp; 1 Comment. San Pablo first let us know that they actually didn’t have a nursing program in place that they could offer us as an extension program, but they. Wanted to open this nursing program with us as their pioneers – giving us complete freedom to create the curriculum and use the teachers that we choose! And once again, the dream grew… as well as the challenge before us. So, we got to work on the curriculum and tea...
Adonai Education Project | unto His name
https://theaaronfickers.wordpress.com/adonai-education-project
Musings from a missionary mama. Adonai Education Project is a small part of the amazing way that God is moving in Adonai International Ministries. Here in Guatemala. For a better understanding on how this education project fits into the bigger picture of all that God is doing here, please check out the Guatemala Promo Video. And has now taken it from an auxiliary nursing program (comparable to an LPN-IV program Stateside) to a Professional Nursing program (comparable to a Registered Nursing program State...
Homesteading/Agriculture | unto His name

Musings from a missionary mama. In July of 2006, I came to Guatemala for a short 3 week visit… and then never left. A few short months before my introduction to Canillá and the Ficker family, I came to the profound realization deep within my heart that at the end of the day, I really was just a Starbucks-loving, suburban-living girl. Thank God He doesn’t listen to our deep, profound realizations. It has been a fun, humbling, exciting, and sometimes exhausting journey as we continue to learn daily!

Musings from a missionary mama. The beginnings part one: the bachillerato. In Adonai Education Project. Asymp; 4 Comments. One of our original Auxiliary Nursing students (now in the Bachillerato program) with her mom cooking up some food in the coffee shoppe for a party we had. In all honesty, I really half-thought “Yay! The ridiculous challenge of working with the Department of Public Health is over! Because He was about to explode our world. But God knew what he was doing, even if we were clueless🙂 Wi...

Musings from a missionary mama. Asymp; 2 Comments. At first I remember being desperate to make sure we didn’t just try to pretend it all away (as if that could ever happen – ha) and bring life back to “the way it had been before;” now I realize that we never will be the same again… nor would I want to be. Because even though my heart will never be quite complete on this earth,. This whole experience has brought Heaven close like never before! And I am forced to wonder…. That His completely perfect love is.

Allison Wonderland: August 2014
http://allisonfamilyinguat.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 5, 2014. A quick update on the hospital project in Guatemala! Adonai received the money needed to transport the container to Guatemala. (See previous post here. Which is so awesome! While the container was being packed in the States, much activity was taking place in Guatemala. Although the land was pretty level, it still needed some fill dirt to get it completely ready. They have moved over 100 loads of dirt from the river. It is almost ready to grade. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Eternity Calls: redemption
http://eternityscall.blogspot.com/2015/07/redemption.html
Next Steps and Big Changes. So, the last time that I wrote a blog post, I had just gotten back from Israel. It was a crazy trip, and God used it in big ways to speak to. Thursday, July 16, 2015. Struggling to find a reason to live. Can such a hope be found? When the very ground. No one to see the scars. To care enough to. What can be known? The anger and lust. Living just to fight. Sex just to pass the time. Such a draw to lustful lies. The lives seem wasted. The one who was left alone. The young cry out.

Next Steps and Big Changes. So, the last time that I wrote a blog post, I had just gotten back from Israel. It was a crazy trip, and God used it in big ways to speak to. Monday, February 16, 2015. I have been struggling with saying good bye. I am a homebody without a home. A couple days ago I was really hurting because of that, and the most frustrating thing was the verse running through my head: "' Foxes. Struggles will always be there, but His grace is truly enough. God help me see that.

Allison Wonderland: Finding Our Rhythm
http://allisonfamilyinguat.blogspot.com/2015/03/finding-our-rhythm.html
Wednesday, March 18, 2015. Some sort of routine seems to help our family function a little bit better. Doesn't really matter where we live. Our drive through Mexico and then our first week here were anything but routine for us. Our next week was a great week with the Lifegate team, but again, no 'routine' that week. We drove the Suburban up to a place to park and then followed the trail to the beginning of the canal. This is the 3rd time that we have gone on this hike in all of the times that we have...

Allison Wonderland: So Amazing!
http://allisonfamilyinguat.blogspot.com/2015/03/so-amazing.html
Sunday, March 29, 2015. A bunch of us walked over to the hospital property yesterday to watch the concrete pour that was going on. The footings are completely done so this pour was the 2nd to last one for the stem walls. They are planning the last pour for some time next week! Those of us that were gawking at the process taking place decided that it was very similar to making a cake! Here are a few pictures of the process! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Allison Wonderland: October 2014
http://allisonfamilyinguat.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 27, 2014. House for Sale . . soon! As you all have figured out by now, we are moving! We are still working on getting our house ready for sale. This is such a walk of faith - it feels like we are running out of time! We have always thought that we would be hiring a realtor and doing it the 'normal' way. However, we had engaged one realtor who was not very excited about listing our home. Weird, right? Wouldn't be the first time! Here is a picture of our neighborhood from the back of our lo...

Monday, April 13, 2015. Adonai (with the help of many! Filled a container with plumbing and other hospital construction supplies and shipped it down to Guatemala in early March. Everything was all going great - in fact, the container arrived at port earlier than expected! Anyway, this is typical Guatemala! And the Lord used these 'complications' to put His focus and His plan in front of us! Aka - the prayer room! Kyla took these awesome photos on the hospital property this morning! Getting the dirt ready.

Allison Wonderland: Happy Easter!
http://allisonfamilyinguat.blogspot.com/2015/04/happy-easter.html
Sunday, April 5, 2015. While we were still weak, at the right time. Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—. God shows his love for us in that. While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since, therefore,. We have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from. The wrath of God. While we were enemies. Reconciliation." - Romans 5:6-11. Happy Easter to all! 15555 West Dodge Road.

Allison Wonderland: Arrival of the Container
http://allisonfamilyinguat.blogspot.com/2015/04/arrival-of-container.html
Monday, April 27, 2015. Arrival of the Container. This last Friday, we got up early to receive the second container for the hospital. With delays at the port, followed by more delays at the port, we should not have been surprised that it was not there when we arrived. Due to the length of the containers themselves and the condition of the roads, they are being housed two hours away from us in Quiche. Now the real work began. Watch the edge Ryan! Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain, The Innocents Abroad.

Aaron Gershfield | A New Perspective
July 1, 2008. My girlfriend and I just got back from two amazing weeks in the sun, water, and sand on the Q. We spent some time in both Cairns and Townsville, and it was incredible. The reef was more stunning than I could ever have imagined, and the water was so blue and surprisingly warm! I have never been more surrounded by beauty. The California coast doesn’t even compare. Posted in Aaron Gershfield. May 28, 2008. Aaron Gershfield was… WRONG? In a previous post, I predicted that Nicole Richie. So my g...
