The Accidental Runner

Thursday, July 4, 2013. It's been a long time. I haven't posted anything in a long time, again! I don't think anyone is reading this anyway! My return to running has been successful. Since my last post (shortly after running the Santa Hustle Half Marathon), I have been consistently running. I ran the Glass City Half Marathon (in the rain), and I did make my goal of running the Flying Pig Marathon (and had a PR). I've been participating in a 5K here and there. We plan to do it all again next year. It's a ...

The Accidental Runner: January 2011

http://www.theaccidentalrunner.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 22, 2011. I am going to start running again. For the next month or so, I will work on getting stronger by doing my Pilates workouts and working out some at the YMCA (as my schedule permits, with working two jobs). Once the weather is a bit nicer (so I don't fall and injure myself yet again) I am going to SLOWLY start running outside. Ares needs the workout too! And, if my knee starts bothering me again, I will get over my stubbornness and go to the doctor. Links to this post.

The Accidental Runner: It's been a long time

http://www.theaccidentalrunner.blogspot.com/2012/02/its-been-long-time.html

Sunday, February 12, 2012. It's been a long time. Wow, it's been a long time since I posted. Needless to say, my last try at running again didn't turn out. In the last year I've been through surgery (it turns out I have "bone on bone" in my knee), two different types of injections, etc. and nothing has helped. I won't let that deter me, though. I am going to try again. Hopefully I will be posting more soon! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Its been a long time. View my complete profile.

TexanInOK: August 2009

http://texaninok.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 28, 2009. Finally sat down to write this up before I forget. I woke up pretty early on race morning, I was actually pretty nervous. I knew it was going to be a long race and tough but I really had no idea what to expect above timber line. I ate a bagel with peanut butter with some Gatorade and we headed out the door. Little by little we would catch a glimpse of the peak through the trees and it was a little heart breaking. Once you got above tree line it seemed like it went on forever.

TexanInOK: November 2009

http://texaninok.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 15, 2009. I finally came back to this page and couldn't believe how long it has been since I updated this. The first few miles are always a little sketchy with all the riders close but we made it through with no problems. Diana and I tried to meet up with the group we had from work but it turned out they were behind us. We finally met up when we stopped at the second rest stop and they caught up. TexanInOK: Lonestar Ironman 70.3

http://texaninok.blogspot.com/2010/12/lonestar-ironman-703.html

Thursday, December 30, 2010. Lonestar Ironman 70.3. I got enough prodding over Christmas to get back to this thing, so time to catch up with some highlights of the year. In late April my sister, mom and I went down to Galveston, TX to do the Lonestar Sprint tri (sister Lindsay) and I would do the half Iron race on Saturday. So I got off the bike, onto the run course (after a quick port-a-potty stop) and plodded out on the run. At this point I was just trying to run more than I walked. Abdominal Cramping ...

TexanInOK: February 2009

http://texaninok.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 16, 2009. I just realized that it has been a while since I updated this thing. Not a whole lot going on around here, just the same old going to work, run, sleep, eat. The other running thing I am working on is the 100 runs in 100 days challenge. I am at 61 days and have 55 runs in. I should be able to make those missing runs up and get back on track. Tuesday, February 3, 2009. I thought I would take a few minutes and put down the races I plan on doing, so I am a little accountable. May 1...

TexanInOK: Skiing

http://texaninok.blogspot.com/2010/04/skiing.html

Wednesday, April 7, 2010. That night I slept like a rock. I may not have moved at all I was so wiped out from an all night drive and lots of skiing. The next morning came and we headed up to the slopes again. We got a couple runs in and then met of with the rest of the group and went with the kids and Kim down a nice long blue/green. Some day I'll have a place up in the mountains where we can go skiing all the time. I can't wait to get back. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

TexanInOK: April 2009

http://texaninok.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 19, 2009. Lone Start Sprint Tri. About 10 minutes before the race started (I was in the first wave) we got into our wetsuits and made our way down to the swim area. We got into the water and it was COLD. We heard 62 degrees and it felt colder than that. Once I finally started moving my wetsuit started warming up a little. Before I knew it, it was time to go. The lesson learned was to get more open water swimming in so I can cut down on the mistakes of swimming all over the place.

TexanInOK: October 2009

http://texaninok.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 1, 2009. Woke up about 4:45 took a shower to wake up and eat a bagel with peanut butter. Picked up my friend and made it to the race site at 6 but had to park a ways away, so we had to walk. I got my transition set up no problem since I was at the end of a rack, I had some extra space. About 30 minutes before the race started it started pouring. The 20% chance of rain was all of a sudden 100%. I found a canopy to wait out the rain so it wasn't too bad but i was still pretty cold. I'm so...

Monday, October 12, 2015. Surviving my 4th Chicago Marathon. Wow, I cannot believe I just did that. Really. I can't. A couple weeks later, our friends, Matt and Katie Feley got married in Mexico. The Monday before we left on Wednesday, I ran my second 20 miler. And I made it! Oh, the 9/11 interview - it went great! I even got in two training runs of 3 miles in the mile high city. Full days of training and dinner/drinks every night was my second marathon of the month - behind Mexico. Now, onto the third.

The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is one of the favourite stops for people on Arch's bus tour. And, believe it or not, we have never been there - the shoemakers children and all that, I guess.
