The Quest for Adventure: Ryanair = Wal Mart?

http://theadventurequest.blogspot.com/2008/11/ryanair-wal-mart_03.html

Monday, 3 November 2008. Ryanair = Wal Mart? I’d heard some rumors about Ryanair starting to run flights from NY to London, but this weekend brought even more news. They’ll be going from multiple US cities to multiple European cities. I have enough traveler guilt knowing how much damage flying does to the environment. Do I also need to start worrying about flying an airline that will drive mom and pop carriers. Out of business and degrade the quality of air travel in general? Subscribe in a reader.

The Quest for Adventure: On Lamu and Others

http://theadventurequest.blogspot.com/2008/10/on-lamu-and-others.html

Thursday, 30 October 2008. On Lamu and Others. I ran into this piece. Taking such pseudonyms as "California," "Captain Smiles," and even "Satan," the locals immediately offer to let you into their world. Late night bonfires on the beach, sketchily bought illegal palm wine, drumming five gallon buckets late into the Indian Ocean night- Lamu was one of a kind. Photo: Me in one of the Lamu dhows. Tourists who didn't even realize he was getting ripped off in the market every day.". Subscribe in a reader.

The Quest for Adventure: Itty-Bitty Airline Committee

http://theadventurequest.blogspot.com/2008/10/itty-bitty-airline-committee.html

Tuesday, 28 October 2008. I was totally baffled when I saw this Suriname Airways office in Amsterdam. Suriname has a population of less than 500,000, why on earth do they have their own national airline? I just find it hard to imagine feeling super-safe when flying an airline for a country with an annual GDP of $2.4 billion. I’m a bit baffled about these little airlines, so I’m going to try and get an expert. To explain these little national airlines. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Quest for Adventure: The big value of small national airlines

http://theadventurequest.blogspot.com/2008/10/big-value-of-small-national-airlines.html

Friday, 31 October 2008. The big value of small national airlines. This piece is cross-posted at Flight Blogger. The question was raised on a travel blog. Earlier this week about the necessity for small countries to operate airlines of their own. The question of justification came to the fore when looking at Surinam Airways. An unlikely country to have an airline, and whether or not a country with a gross domestic product of $2.4b should have (or needs) an airline of its own. On FlightBlogger in 2007.

The Quest for Adventure: Worth It

http://theadventurequest.blogspot.com/2008/07/worth-it.html

Thursday, 31 July 2008. Intrepid Travel, one of those "off the beaten track" tour companies, is giving away free trips for signing up to their email list and letting them where you want to go and why. Totally worth it if you ask me. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Subscribe in a reader.
