Tuesday, January 11, 2011. Becuase all the other pretentious music elitists are doing it (part II). The only thing "cooler" than compiling a ridiculously long end-of the year music list is waiting an unnecessarily long amount of time between the two blog posts covering said topic. Preach it. Wurd. Janelle Monáe, Archandriod. Kanye West, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Laura Marling, I Speak Because I Can. Local Natives, Gorilla Manor. Les Savy Fav, Root For Ruin. Magnetic Fields, Realism. Friday, April 30, 2010. Last night, I got together with some great friends, made a Provençal. French stew and watched Coco Before Chanel. Her character (which I'm assuming is based on her actual persona) wasn't entirely likable, but the movie was a feast of beautiful French scenery. And of course the costumes were nothing short of completely, utterly and ridiculously amazing. Either way, it was fascinating to see the origins of a fashion icon who was universally ahead of her time. Thursday, April 29, 2010.

Both of them were visual banquets of amazing costumes and had great story lines that played out with just the right amount of theatricality. Also, the casts - OMG the amazingly attractive and talented roster of thespians. Between Marion Cotillard's classy moves and Penelope Cruz's sexy solos, I'm pretty sure I went gay for about 90 minutes. I'm kind of easily excitable. It's far ...

Saturday, January 30, 2010. Bistro cakes and sugar flakes. One my favorite ways to waste time during the day on the weekend is to find a yummy brunch spot and just lounge around. Although Austin doesn't have row after row of quaint pedestrian streets lined with cutesy cafes run by culinarily-gifted locals, we do have several lovely food carts that have just as much variety and homegrown flavors. The latest addition to our food cart scene is La Boite Cafe. I def hope to spend some time there this weekend.
