Saturday, February 4, 2012. A much needed girls night :) This past Wednesday our other Small Group through me a wonderful baby shower. I hadn't seen these girls in awhile, and they are precious to me. I've missed them! The night was perfect. First we met at a restaurant in Homewood called Jackson's and enjoyed catching up. The place was packed downstairs, but thankfully we had the entire upstairs to ourselves, which made it easy to have real conversations. Thursday, February 2, 2012. Check Out These Blogs.

Friday, December 16, 2011. A few minutes later our little star entered the room. And he was searching for us. AND found us. I absolutely love this face and wish I could bottle it for the next 20 years. I have a feeling one day he won't be quite as excited to see Daddy and Mommy :(. Micah opened the program by reciting Luke 2:11, "Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you. He is Christ the Lord.". Tuesday, March 20, 2012. We felt completely loved by the amount of people who came to meet Kai at the hospital and at our home within the first few days. We even were able to see some of our good friend's that live out of town, which was such a treat. Part of our Small Group. The Pittman's live in Louisville, but were in Bham for a basketball game the weekend after Kai was born. Perfect timing! The Whitaker's (Linds and I swapped babies for the pic). Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Welcome, Kai Elizabeth Akin. On February 16, 2012 we welcomed our precious little girl, Kai, into the world. After having lots and I mean LOTS of false contractions for a few weeks, we decided to go ahead and let me be induced a few days early. The contractions would be about 10 minutes apart for 9 hours and then just STOP. Seriously! I was a bit worried about an induction, but let me tell ya, it was the easiest labor yet. We all were pretty tired after the party, so since it was such a gorgeous day, we decided to sit out in our backyard and just relax.this was after much needed LONG naps from the kids. Sunday, January 29, 2012. One of the highlights while being in KY was Poppi and GiGi taking Micah to his first UK basketball game. It made it even better that they were playing Alabama, of all schools :) Before the game Micah took my Dad's hand, walked up to a poster on the wall, pointed, and said, "Hey Poppi! It's my boy, Kidd-Gilchrist." Yes, he loves him some #14 and amazes me with how he knows every players name (and number)! We of course had to go find the Wildcat and get a pic. Micah with Poppi :).

Monday, September 26, 2011. Birthday Party, Farm Style. As I mentioned before, we came to Louisville really only to drive to Ohio for my Great Aunt's birthday. It was a great party and I'm so thankful we got to go. My Dad's family is from Ohio and live on beautiful farms. Some live on a livestock farm, while others live on an apple orchard. I hadn't been here in years. Touring the apple orchard the next morning which was such an intricate and just amazing machine and process. How 'bout them apples? Enjoy...
