The ancient Chinese had paper long before the West. To create the earliest form of paper, they used bamboo and bleach. Beleive it or not, paper was originally used for blankets and clothing, but then the ancient Chinese refined the proccess creating paper that was suitable for writing. Before the West had even started making paper, the Chinese were already working on writing.
