Evolution of a painter. The inner struggle of the artist to get out. Thursday, June 10, 2010. Here’s a close-up of the first set of squares. Oops, still kind of sloppy there. As much as I burnished the edges of the masking tape to create a seal against paint leakage, the paint still crept under the edge of the tape. Not pretty! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Evolution of a painter. The inner struggle of the artist to get out. Saturday, June 19, 2010. Recycle, Reuse, Rejoice. So, the reality of earning a living encroached on my life this week and I had to spend more time typing than creating. However, I got some behind-the-scenes work done for my “studio”. I’m kind of proud of this effort because it involves recycling and reusing. I’m feeling a little green this morning which is a good thing these days. They come in boxes of three tubes. However, I needed a w...

Evolution of a painter. The inner struggle of the artist to get out. Wednesday, April 30, 2008. I was online watching Robert Davies demonstrate an acrylic painting (see http:/ www.how-to-paint-and-draw.com/. Anyway, check this guy out. He's pretty interesting, especially if you like Brits. Monday, April 28, 2008. Underpainting and the Belfries. This particular structure is so appealing to me because of what is revealed as the stucco falls. Saturday, April 19, 2008. Evolution of a painter. The inner struggle of the artist to get out. Sunday, June 29, 2008. I took my bell tower painting off the easel and sat it on some shelves in my office/studio (a.k.a. living room). I was dismayed…stuck, if you will. I wasn’t satisfied with what I was doing but I didn’t know what to do about it. So, I contemplated it as I went about my day-to-day business. What to do. What to do. However, a few things happened to kind of jump start me again. This process continues to amaze me&#...

Evolution of a painter. The inner struggle of the artist to get out. Friday, November 12, 2010. 1 of 4 in a collection tentatively named. No Calorie Fast Food. My finished paintings surround me in this room like my children. I look at them and wonder at them. Like Erkel of Family Matters,. I ask, "Did I do that? My loved ones and I were so amazed when I started painting about 10 years ago. In the beginning, there came a point where I knew I had. For posterity. Someday my children or grandchildren or ...

Every quilt is a journey - please join me. Saturday, June 11, 2011. Try Again - Don't Give Up. Not a pretty site. After I got the seam torn out, I pinned each junction of the 1-inch blocks. Eleanor Burns ( quiltinaday.com. If for some reason the joining points shift even while using pins, it will be easier to rip out. If I'm successful in all blocks being aligned, then, I'll run the regular piecing stitch to the right of the temporary stitching and pull it out when I'm done. Tuesday, June 7, 2011. As I d...

Evolution of a painter. The inner struggle of the artist to get out. Friday, June 4, 2010. The Story of the Sweet Potato Vine Sketch. When I approached my unwitting subject and displayed my masterpiece, the first thing this person saw was the mole on the sketch. While other comments may have been made prior to or after the comments on the mole, I don’t remember anything but being told that I wasn’t properly sensitive to the feelings of others by including such a blemish in my drawing. While I was drawing...

Evolution of a painter. The inner struggle of the artist to get out. Tuesday, May 20, 2008. Redrawing the Roofs and Placing the Rocks. Well, it’s been a while since I tended the blog and a while since I really got to paint. However, since then some important things have happened. I’ve graduated from student grade paints to artist grade. Funny thing is I thought I was already at artist grade although the word “academic” should have tipped me off, huh? Happy trails 'til we meet again.
