My concept Art Blog. September 22, 2013. A new illustration – new inspiration. I found an old sketch in one of my many unfinished Moleskin sketchbooks to use as an example for my class last friday. It turned out that I took it home on the weekend and decided to finish painting it. I’m quite happy with the results. Only one brush and never more than two layers in Photoshop. I will be doing this more often. August 24, 2013. From the vaults – Me and Steely Joe. August 9, 2013. July 7, 2013. May 26, 2013.

My concept Art Blog. November 5, 2013. Batman: Arkham Origins – The Batwing. I’ll be posting more artwork in the next coming days – environments and props. The final design had a meaner, blunter nose. One of about a dozen pages of thumbnails. My colleague Virgil Loth modified this later and made it much cooler. You can see his designs in the art book that comes with the collector’s edition of the game. Frame grab from a cinematic. Batman: Arkham Origins – New Gotham →. November 20, 2013. November 20, 2013.

My concept Art Blog. November 20, 2013. The Batwing: Early versions. The modelling team really helped shape it into a credible and wicked-looking plane. Some of the first roughs. I left out some of the odder ones. Greyscale roughs. The top left one is my nod to the Flying Sub form Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. Since it’s not really a submarine, that was out for sure. The bottom one is loosely based on an actual American experimental plane, the XFV-12A. November 5, 2013. Frame grab from a cinematic.

My concept Art Blog. June 3, 2014. Chesterfield Slacks: From the archives. In the 90s, while I still had a foot in the door of animation, I created and pitched a few ideas for series, including this one, which my brother Gunnar and I collaborated on. Gunnar put together a great text document, which I no longer have a copy of (Gunnar? Do you still have it? Describing the series as an animated riff on Vegas in the 50s. The Batwing: Early versions.
