If you live in the southern hemisphere you’ll get a chance to see the thin crescent Moon close to Mercury in the early evening sky tonight. Eagle-eyed observers in North America might also get lucky, but you’ll probably need binoculars to help you as the pair will be close to the horizon and Mercury may be hard to see. Through a small telescope at relatively low power (35x) it appeared sparsely scattered with all white or blue-white stars, most quite bright, that gave me the impression of a heart. Yesterday night, after a wonderful dinner wth my beatiful and sweet wife and our smart 8yrs old son celebrating Valentine’s Day, I decide to try my wife’s “crazy idea” : set up the telescope in our eating area targeting the moon and stars thru the sliding glass door, allowing us to see the night sky and stay warmer during a winter night with temperature around -15C… 😁. It was a magic night…😉. Eyepices: Celestron X-Cel LX 12mm. February 15, 2016. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

About – Cdnastronomer
https://cdnastronomer.wordpress.com/about-2
After more than two years frequently listening numerous podcasts related to space, science and technology such as StartTalk, Inquiring Minds, Spark and Ted, I came to conclusion that it was time to reach back to my inner child and fulfill a promise I made to myself when I was about 11 years old. Get a telescope and see the starts, and so it begins. This is about my personal journey as an amateur astronomer in Canada. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Benchmark – what to expect from a Dobsonian XT 10. Yes, I know I have a “XT 8”, but hear me out…. Yesterday night had some friends coming over, and as I knew the kids always love to see the night sky, I checked Stellarium software (free). In advance to see what would be quick and easy to see… And turns out I would be able to spot the giant Jupiter from my porch arround 22:00 – not the best viewing condition due to street light…😁. After spending a few hours digging into the Internet looking for images /v...

Weirdness, dread, wonder and doom. Skip to primary content. Skip to secondary content. The Sugar of the Earth – part 18. July 25, 2014. When Methany and Mathalia, obligate voluptuaries, reached the forth decade of their lives they had begun to crave a measure of escape their essential natures denied. In the halls of their ancestral home where the shadows sprawled velveteen (and had for thousands of years), they writhed, they piqued. Mathalia would push her fists against her face where her many rings tang...
