THE ONLINE JOURNAL OF WRITER L. L. SOARES. Thursday, May 29, 2003. Not a lot going on right now. There's a bunch of cool anthologies with deadlines in June, and I'm trying to write/submit stuff to as many of them as I can. Hopefully some of these stories will find a nice home. I might be going to see the latest "inbred cannibal" movie, Wrong Turn. Tomorrow. Unless the reviews are totally dismal. It stars Eliza Dushku, Faith from Buffy. Posted by L. L. Soares @ 12:35 PM. Thursday, May 22, 2003. It’s defin...

THE ONLINE JOURNAL OF WRITER L. L. SOARES. Monday, June 23, 2003. Starting in 1999, Comedy Central put out a totally insane show called Strangers with Candy. It was about a 48 year old former hooker and drug addict, Jerri Blank, who decides to start over and go back to high school. The premise is crazy, but the execution of the idea was even weirder. Starring Amy Sedaris. Sister of writer David Sedaris. The cast was what made this show so amazing. Sedaris, Paul Dinello. And Sex and the City. It’s about t...

THE ONLINE JOURNAL OF WRITER L. L. SOARES. Saturday, August 30, 2003. FREDDY VS. JASON. I've been hearing a lot of opinions about this one. Some people absolutey hate it, and other people think it's a lot of fun. Well, I gotta go with the latter group. I had a good time at this one. Anyone else see this? I dunno - I tend to hate religious horror movies, except for The Exorcist. Why is this guy a star now? Why must we be subjected to another vacant pretty boy with the acting talent of a slug? Is the daddy...

THE ONLINE JOURNAL OF WRITER L. L. SOARES. Wednesday, November 19, 2003. Recently (it was flawed, but at least it was better than the god-awful second Matrix. Movie) and the Texas Chainsaw. Remake (it was okay but definitely did not need to be made - the original is perfect). I was going to post reviews here, but I'll probably have reviews appearing elsewhere soon, so when that happens I'll provide links here. In story news, I have a new story up online. It's called "Mating Room". HERE COME THE SEQUELS.

THE ONLINE JOURNAL OF WRITER L. L. SOARES. Sunday, September 28, 2003. Saw the new movie Demonlover. It's a French film by Olivier Assayas who also did Irma Vep. With the amazing Maggie Cheung, who I also think he's married to. And I think she was also in Gladiator. Chloe Sevigny (who seems to be in every weird art film these days) and Gina Gershon (who continues to heat up every screen she's on). With all these pluses going for it, I figured this was worth checking out. I was wrong. Demonlover. If you w...

THE ONLINE JOURNAL OF WRITER L. L. SOARES. Thursday, January 30, 2003. Well, I went to go see George Clooney’s directorial debut, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. And, from what I can tell, the guy has a promising future. I’ve been wanting to see this one for awhile, since it’s the life story of Chuck Barris. The TV producer who brought us such game show classics as The Dating Game. And The Newlywed Game. But the show I really enjoyed the most, being actually hooked on it as a kid, was The Gong Show.

THE ONLINE JOURNAL OF WRITER L. L. SOARES. Thursday, August 29, 2002. Two stories recently went up on www.horrorfind.com. That I really dug. Thought I’d give them a mention. First off, you've got to check out Latex: Like A Glove (A Brackard's Point Story). By Geoff Cooper. It's short, it's intense, and it packs one helluva wallop at the end. I first came across this story in Coop's chapbook BUM PISS AND OTHER CITY SCENTS. Also on Horrorfind, there's a new story by Tom Piccirilli. This guy rocks! Was an a...

THE ONLINE JOURNAL OF WRITER L. L. SOARES. Thursday, September 26, 2002. Well, had some outpatient surgery done on Monday to my scalp. I had some cysts removed. During the actual procedure, everything went pretty well. It only took about an hour to do it all. But then on the subway ride home, the novacaine wore off, and my head was suddenly very, very sore. On a more upbeat note, I got the boxed set of THE YOUNG ONES: Every Stoopid Episode. Posted by L. L. Soares @ 1:25 AM. Wednesday, September 18, 2002.

THE ONLINE JOURNAL OF WRITER L. L. SOARES. Thursday, April 30, 2009. SCREAMING SPOTLIGHT ON: DANIEL G. KEOHANE. In celebration of his new novel, Dan and I sat down and had a little chat. Okay, let’s start at the beginning. What made you want to become a writer? How early did you start writing? What was your first professional sale? My first pro sale was a Christmas horror story,. Mb I sold it to Gothic.net. Yeah, I miss those days. Gothic.net. Ray Bradbury, first and foremost. Fahrenheit 451. And are cur...
