Why Being A Good Writer Is Dangerous | The Author Blog
https://theauthorblog.wordpress.com/2011/02/04/why-being-a-good-writer-is-dangerous
A Young Writer's Journey. February 4, 2011. Why Being A Good Writer Is Dangerous. Any creative venture is a pardadox. On one hand you have to believe in yourself enough to keep on going (have the confidence to know that the journey is worth it), but you also have to know how to handle criticism and always be in a continuous state of learning. Just go with the identity, “I’m a writer” “I’m an artist”, and any piece of work that is good, hasn’t happened because of ...But that’s not to say you failure...
Narrative Voice | The Author Blog

A Young Writer's Journey. February 7, 2011. My first novel was full of too much telling and not enough showing. The voice was strong, but the lack of active images meant it was less engaging. My second novel was all active, all show, and because of that, my voice lessened and it became lifeless. Be real, be authentic, and be in the action. those are the principles. A Young Writer's Journey. Monthly Archives: January 2011. January 31, 2011. 8220;Say all you have to say in the fewest possible words, or your reader will be sure to skip them; and in the plainest possible words or he will certainly misunderstand them.” John Ruskin. I have critiqued several works over the past few days, and if theres one thing that has stuck out the most its over describing things. To me the mark of good writing is when a complicated scene can be described with basic, direct language.

A Young Writer's Journey. February 3, 2011. I read somewhere, that emotions are the most addictive chemicals known to man, and I think there is a lot of truth in this statement. Emotions are also very blinding. Under the spell of a strong emotion, we think thoughts and commit actions, that we would never usually think or do otherwise. It’s like being intoxicated with a drug (ever been drunk and knew without a shadow of doubt that sending that text message was the right thing to do? February 2, 2011.

A Young Writer's Journey. Monthly Archives: February 2011. February 14, 2011. The way I edit has changed. I use to polish off every sentence as I did it, because I believed it would save me time later. And sure, it may save me time, if i want a completed book, but it wouldn’t help me get published. Now I write just to get the story down. Sure, I fiddle here and there with words if I see they need editing right there and then, but overall, I’m not really worriered about it. Why? What’s more exciting?

Fiction University: Let's Talk About Adjectives
http://blog.janicehardy.com/2011/02/lets-talk-about-adjectives.html
Wednesday, February 2. Let's Talk About Adjectives. By Janice Hardy, @Janice Hardy. Got a great question last week. I do wonder about adjectives. I generally try to avoid more than one per paragraph or thought, but is it okay to use more or should I work on cutting them out completely? See what I did there? I loaded that paragraph with adjectives, and it reads clunky, doesn't it? Let's take a closer look:. Adjectives are those colorful. Words that are used to describe other not-so-colorful. Adjectives ou...

From the very beginning of my ministry I desired to write books, but because I was in full time ministry it left little time for anything other than work. So after many years passed I decided I had something to say, and no matter what I was going to make time to say it and I began to write and the Lord allowed me to release several different titles.
