In the past two weeks, I painted the lime plaster, repointed another section of wall and built up the floor. That was done by last Monday, and I spent an hour just sitting in there, with a cold Galway ****** Irish Pale Ale, taking a moment to just think about next steps. But what was done this past two weeks? You can see a video here. Then started the layer of compressed crushed stone.

Thursday, 28 May 2015. Although there's plenty to be doing in the main part of the house, we've got a whole bunch of challenges, mostly outside, to be doing. We'd like to at least get most of them started this year, but only a few will get finished. In no particular order:. Turn the old cow stalls into a workshop and home brewery. Get a new front door and sort out the entry hall. Build a dry stone retaining wall around the patio area. Get the old pigsty into shape as a potting shed. 160;with Séan Billings.

Sunday, 27 July 2014. This has been done for the entire first floor, which is just fantastic. The beams were uncovered during the week, so we could get a real feel for it. Friday, 29 August 2014. It's been a full-on couple of weeks since the last update. I had been continuing to install the plasterboard walls on the second floor, but when our friend Sace turned up with the panels for the kitchen floor heating, the focus switched completely to that. The beauty of this system is that it needs no drying out time. So the next day, it was ready to be tiled. Also, you can go fairly thin, down to 1cm or so (we had 3 to 4cm). Well, that and the window sills need to go in first.
