Traditionally a sheep grazing property, the passion for growing fine wool, ultimately lead to the desire to produce fine wine. Established in 1998, the vineyard is positioned on a hill above the 1860’s homestead. A mixture of ironstone and red clay loam exists over most of the site with the merlot section planted in a black clay loam.

The Bend' property is located near Swansea on Tasmania's Freycinet East Coast, bordered by the Swan River (the bend in the river) and King Bay, which is part of Moulting Lagoon, a large internationally, recognised wetland at the northern end of Great Oyster Bay. The east coast of Tasmania is one of the driest regions in the state with an average rainfall of 600ml a year, it is also one of the warmest with average summer temperatures around 22- 23 oC, an ideal climate for growing cool Tasmanian wine.
