The Bird's Blog

Sunday, January 20, 2013. The importance of sleep in captive birds. One of the questions I ask first, when doing a bird behavior consult, is how many hours of uninterrupted sleep does your parrot receive? Many people do not know or understand how important sleep is to our captive birds. If your bird is in a reasonably quiet part of your house already, but you are not quite sure they are getting enough sleep, covering your birds with a dark sheet, may help your bird sleep more soundly through the night.

Saturday, August 18, 2012. Foraging: Fun and Easy! The Bird Guru presents:. Foraging: Fun and Easy! Saturday, September 29, 2012. At Dogs Learning Center. 577 Main St., Unit 130. Hudson, MA 01749. Foraging is defined as the act of foraging for food. This is something that is lacking in our captive birds daily lives. In the wild, they may spend 6-7 hours per day searching for food. In captivity, some birds spend less than 1 hour searching for and eating food. Owners of any types of birds are welcome!

The Bird's Blog: Dangers in our bird cages

http://thebirdsblog.blogspot.com/2012/06/dangers-in-our-bird-cages.html

Saturday, June 23, 2012. Dangers in our bird cages. I have trimmed many bird toys in my own cages, and will also remove or modify toys that arrive with any of my boarding clients that seem unsafe to me. I always explain why certain things concern me to my clients, so that they learn how to keep their birds safe. Posted by Jenn @ 11:12 AM. Sudbury, Massachusetts, United States. Orion the Crested: October 2006

http://orionthecrested.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html

Orion is the best! Tuesday, October 17, 2006. Orion also did very well with my friends Sarah's dogs over the weekend. He was snarky with her two dobies to begin with, but was better with them the longer they stayed. It was definitely a good experience for him and hopefully we will do it again soon. : ). Orion the Crested: November 2005

http://orionthecrested.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html

Orion is the best! Thursday, November 17, 2005. 2nd to last 2nd L2 Class! He did allright with his sit stays, but refused to go from sit stay into a down. We've done it before, but he was having none of that last nite. He did offer me downs though when I didn't ask for them! Crazy dog. I kind of feel like he's using his "let me bark at another dog and quickly turn and look at mom to get a reward! It's all just a matter of time. As long as we are making progress I feel like we are doing something right.

Orion graduated L2 again! So I guess I haven't updated Orion's blog in a while and I should've a number of times! For the whole class! He was great and everyone really thought it was a great trick! Orion the Crested: May 2006

http://orionthecrested.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html

Orion is the best! Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Orion went through the chute! He did it all by himself for the first time today. He usually needs Carolyn to hold it open an inch or two so he can see the light, but not today! He just ran right through! He also protected his sister from my mom's dog Frosty today. LOL. Good job. C-ya later! Posted by Jenn @ 2:51 PM. Monday, May 29, 2006. Orion's doing well with his new sister. Posted by Jenn @ 9:19 PM. Saturday, May 13, 2006. Posted by Jenn @ 1:14 PM.

Orion the Crested: June 2006

http://orionthecrested.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Orion is the best! Thursday, June 22, 2006. Orion gained a pound! Which is a lot when you've weighed 9.7lbs the last two times we went to the vet. Now he weighs 10.8 and feels very healthy and strong to me. Must be muscling up from agility and playing with his sister all the time! Also, our yard is now fenced in and he's decided the most important place to hang out is right near our fieldstone foundation searching for chipmunks. Silly pup! Posted by Jenn @ 5:32 PM. Orion is the best! Wednesday, July 26, 2006. Woohoo something we need to work on for the table in agility and for when we start rally, although, I guess they don't actually have to do that until Rally 2, but still. He also did super well in agility class today with very little reactivity (none at all in his L2! But we'll work through it, we've got nothing but time. : ) Good boy Orion. Posted by Jenn @ 10:18 PM. Monday, July 17, 2006. Orion's been great lately. Posted by Jenn @ 12:49 PM.

Orion the Crested: August 2006

http://orionthecrested.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html

Orion is the best! Saturday, August 05, 2006. He looks like a different dog. (see before and after pics above) My clippers broke months ago, so I finally went out and bought a new cheap pair, and buzzed him down. So he got a bath and a clip and he's not happy. We think he feels self-conscious all naked (there's about a 1/4 inch left! Sorry for the sappy moment - it won't happen again! Posted by Jenn @ 10:11 PM. Sudbury, Massachusetts, United States. The love she felt,...
