The Bishop's Collar: February 2013
http://thebishopscollar.blogspot.com/2013_02_01_archive.html
Sunday, February 24, 2013. Something old and something new - Abita Turbodog and Spring IPA. We used the beer for the recipe, but I don't recall just drinking what was not used. I was still not interested in trying new beers. It was not until a few years later that I had Turbodog and realized how much it was not like Guinness and how much I liked it. It is now my favorite Abita beer. For those who are unfamiliar, here is a review. Smell: A malty and toffee aroma was noted with this beer. At dinner, the be...
The Bishop's Collar: January 2013
http://thebishopscollar.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 27, 2013. DIY - Brooklyn Brewshop Bruxelles Blonde. A couple of years ago before getting more serious about my beer pastime, I briefly considered trying to brew my own. For those who know me are aware that I am not very handy. I am not so much a DIY (Do it yourself) guy, but more of a PFC (pay for convenience) guy. I have not even owned a lawnmower since moving to Lafayette more than 8 years ago. For those who have brewed at home, or are familiar with the process the step by step that I w...
The Bishop's Collar: Welcome Back Regan - Real Ale Brewing Rio Blanco Pale Ale
http://thebishopscollar.blogspot.com/2013/06/welcome-back-regan-real-ale-brewing-rio.html
Saturday, June 8, 2013. Welcome Back Regan - Real Ale Brewing Rio Blanco Pale Ale. I mention my relief, Regan's easy transition to camp and being away from her parents was not well received by everyone. This being a sign of her not needing us and being more independent hit Margaret pretty hard. On the drive back I had a big smile and Margaret's sunglasses hid some tears. This time it is the Rio Blanco Pale Ale as part of a sampler 6 pack. Appearance: Beer poured an Amber color not unlike the color of ice...
The Bishop's Collar: The beer that started it all...
http://thebishopscollar.blogspot.com/2012/06/beer-that-started-it-all.html
Monday, June 18, 2012. The beer that started it all. In March of this year, my wife and I went to the UK to see her cousin and cousin's husband for a few days. We were also joined by another cousin that lives in the US. On our way to the "best cousin trip ever", we had a layover in the Philadelphia International airport. We had dinner there before departing for London. For more information about the Yards Brewery, see the link below. June 18, 2012 at 10:46 PM. June 19, 2012 at 6:55 AM. Eric, that is exac...
The Bishop's Collar: July 2013
http://thebishopscollar.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 8, 2013. Full Circle - Yards Brawler. This past week, Margaret and I visited Scotland. This was the first time for both of us and we reunited with some great friends that used to live in the states and are natives. We were able to see places that regular tourists will likely never venture to. We had a great time and had some great beers. Updates from the trip to come. One last thing I found while walking around the Philadelphia airport. Cheers to the City of Brotherly Love (and Craft Beer)!

A New Orleans, Beer-drinking, accountant taking on the world. I am updating the way I review my beers. It’s all going to boil down the this simplistic rating scale: Pass on this one, Would drink again, and Stock the fridge. I’ll post at least a bit on appearance, aroma, and taste, but really I’m just cataloging if I would buy again. Here is a list of all of my beer reviews. Abita Mardi Gras Bock. The Bishop's Collar
Wednesday, January 1, 2014. Best Christmas ever pt. 3 - Blue Jacket D.C. Although it is an 18-hour 1,200 mile drive from Southwest La to Northern Virginia, it is well worth it to spend a week with family in a relaxing setting. I refer to it as a drinking beer in sweatpants kind of a vacation. The most important things we do there, besides a whole lot of nothing, is catching up and enjoying each other's company. Their menu below is very comprehensive and includes beer stats and tasting notes. This past we...

Blog blog blog that's what I'm talkin' bout. West Spanish Peaks, CO. From my summer out west. Monday, May 16, 2011. Extra time = Blog reborn(for the meantime). So according to my last post it has been 6 months since the last time I posted. That's due mainly to the fact that time has been about as easy to find as the fountain of youth, el dorado, the holy grail, a unicorn, or watermelon flavored sour straws. The latter one is the most difficult by far. So here is what you've missed in a nutshell. Well tha...
