8230;one child's fight for survival…. November 22, 2010. Round 7…nasty Doxo, lost ‘angels’ and distressing news! This round of chemo has been horribly distressing in so many ways. Two toddlers that we know from the ward have passed away in the last week. I ran into one of the daddy’s and we both just hugged and cried. What do you say to a parent who has just lost their baby? There are no words. RIP, Mac and Henry, our little ward angels! Casper and his buddy, Baxter in the play room. Anyway, I am very mu...

8230;one child's fight for survival…. October 29, 2010. Ha Ha…what was I thinking? Friday, 29 October 2010. Ok…so I woke up this morning with the misguided idea that Casper and I would go in to hospital with David, then we would stop in at Ronald MacDonald House. Cafe just up the road from the RCH, then drop David off at work and be home in time for afternoon tea! Ha ha…what was I thinking…home in time for afternoon tea…turned out to be more like home for dinner (5pm)! This means that Casper will end up ...

8230;one child's fight for survival…. December 8, 2010. Fat lips, a mad dash to the ER, cellulitis and Adenovirus take two! Sorry I have been MIA. We have been in hospital since last Monday. Mad dash to the ER on Monday night just over a week ago with a temp. He had been having low grade temps just under 38 for a couple of days and then last Monday after dinner, once he was in bed it spiked to 38.4! Feeling lousy with the adenovirus. You can imagine how hard it is to keep a toddler confined to a small ro...

8230;one child's fight for survival…. November 7, 2010. Ding ding ding…Round 6! Thursday, 4 November 2010. Tests went smoothly which was a blessing after the stress of last week’s attempt! Upsetting to find that Casper already has some hearing loss from one of the chemo drugs he is on. Was expected but sad just the same. Casper enjoyed snuggling up with mummy and daddy in bed last night at Ronald Mac house though and it was nice to all be together! Chemo starts again in a few hours! Six down, four to go!

8230;one child's fight for survival…. October 28, 2010. Looking after “me”! Thursday, 28 October 2010. Well today I went shopping…for myself! I bought myself a couple of pairs of linen trousers and a long blue and mauve floral top for Summer and a pair of wedge sandals, a new Elle MacPherson maternity bra (the others were starting to fall apart and look a bit tragic! And a long black summer nightie! They were both waiting for me on the nature strip as I drove in which was nice. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

8230;one child's fight for survival…. I am the proud mummy of Casper the Great! This is my blog to help myself, my family and friends to cope with and perhaps even better understand the difficulties of the journey he is facing and we hope one day it may even be helpful to other families battling this disease. You don’t know me, but I was forwarded your link and joined the petition for Casper’s wellness. Congrats on the neutrophil count! On October 11, 2010. Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

8230;one child's fight for survival…. December 18, 2010. Round 8 and F.A.P. …what the? Round of cisplatin and therefore the last! This protocol has been successful in treating hepatoblastoma and so the doc does not want to deviate from a working formula. So we are going along with it knowing that it will more than likely cause further hearing loss. The phrase ‘stuck between a rock and a hard place’ comes to mind.once again! One tired mummy in the cot! Obviously very, very painful! The nurses had to remov...
