Tuesday, 25 November 2014. Bookmarks and Book Marks. I first saw this tag over on Winterelle. Written by the wonderful Alannah, and I thought it was fabulous. It's taken me a ridiculous amount of time to finally get around to writing my answers but let's do this! What are you currently using as a bookmark? Some of the free bookmarks from past Book Depository. Orders - I love them, but they rarely include them in my orders anymore *sad face*! Best thing you've used? Weirdest thing you've used? Front man o...

Saturday, 1 August 2015. Sidles in sheepishly* *has a quick whip around with a duster* Hello, remember me? Although for my last ever essay there was quite a lot of furious typing, opting to take a risk and have fun with it without worrying about the final grade. I argued why Rebecca. By du Maurier should win the Booker Prize over Nineteen Eighty-Four. Something like that. If you're at school now, take risks with your work (calculated ones, of course! It'll probably pay off! Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell.
The Book Journal | A UK Book Blog.: January 2015
http://www.thebookjournal.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Friday, 30 January 2015. Read in January 2015. Anyway without anymore rambling, here are the books I read in January. Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel. A post-apocalyptic novel that offers so. Much more. There's friendship and art and what it means to be alive. It's wonderful. Mandel is such a brilliant storyteller, she gives just enough without ever revealing too much. The Rehearsal by Eleanor Catton. The Silkworm by Robert Galbraith. A Question of Identity by Susan Hill. From a great crime novel ...

Wednesday, 31 December 2014. Favourite Books of 2014! Hello and Happy New Year's Eve! I hope you're looking forward to the prospect of a new year, new goals, and that you stay safe tonight whatever you're doing to celebrate! I made a little list of the books that I read for the first time this year that stood out to me the most, trying not to think about it too much because otherwise it would be a very long list! Aaand without further ado here they are. B by Sarah Kay. The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton.

Tuesday, 14 April 2015. Finally, spring has finally sprung! After a little break from the blog, I'm ready to share all things that make me happy. One thing that has put me in a good mood, is the weather. I do love it when seasons change, it feels like a new beginning. So, I say farewell to winter and welcome spring with arms wide open - with the intention to make these months count! I plan to read, read and read. Thanks to another Chelsea. I have been inspired. And, of course, I plan to blog! I love this...
Kimi and me: April 2015
http://kimiandme.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Monday, 27 April 2015. Last week, I was reading in the sunshine. With a beagle asleep at my toes and I couldn't want for anything else. It was the perfect way to relax. And forget all that was on my mind. I was completely consumed by the storyline and what was to become of the characters at the end. Do you ever find yourself unable to do anything else, not until the last page of the book is read? Is written by SJ Watson. Encounter that quickly becomes more, but not everything is quite as it seems. I plan...

sailboat. : To Do in August.
http://www.sailorjennie.com/2015/08/to-do-in-august.html
Tuesday, 4 August 2015. To Do in August. There are approximately one million (may be a slight exaggeration). Files on my computer that I haven't named properly. They all have names like 'fjkdsfhi' and as such I have no idea what they are, which is just brilliant. Thanks a lot past Jennie. Needless to say I need to sort that out. This may sound overly pretentious and perhaps a little bit silly, but I think I need to write a kind of 'mission statement' for life (personal goals, career goals, etc). Make a r...
A Novel Read: July 2010
http://anovelread.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
I could perhaps live without writing. I don't think I could live without reading." - Alberto Manguel A History of Reading. Friday, July 23, 2010. Every Last One by Anna Quindlen. I finished it yesterday and sat thinking, "Wow.". If you have never read any of Quindlen's fiction, be forewarned. Her books are heavy! Caught me off-guard. I was completely blind-sided by the events that unfolded in the story. At 3 am I lay in bed sobbing with the main character. I would not recommend reading Every Last One.

Sunday, 26 October 2014. Grace's Guide: The Art of Pretending to be a Grown Up by Grace Helbig. I've been a fan of Grace Helbig for almost 2 years now. I enjoy her videos and like her sense of humor. So of course, when I found out she was going to write a book I knew that I had to get it. When I heard that it was going to be a guide book I became a little hesitant and wasn't too sure if I would buy it immediately. The audiobook is approximately 4,5h long. At some point the advice got repetitive. And ...

I read books, blog about them and make all kinds of book related videos on youtube. I expected a lot more from this book. The beginning was a little slow and the whole flashback part really bored me. Not sure I'll be reading the next book in the series. Amazing. I loved the writing and the perspectives. This book makes me rethink my life. Time is indeed precious. The Catcher in the Rye. And where did they end up? Someday, Someday, Maybe. Should she loose some weight? The Spy Who Loathed Me.

Saturday, December 10, 2016. Tis the season for a good read. Modern Lovers by Emma Staub. Everybody Behaves Badly: The True Story Behind Hemingway's Masterpiece by Lesley M. M. Blume. Saturday, 8 August 2015. To Read in August. To-be-read blog posts are one of my favourite kind of posts to read because I'm always curious (read: nosy). To see which books are noteworthy enough to make it to the top of someone's pile, and because I always seem to discover a new book that I then in turn add to my 'I need to look into this further' list. And I'm sure I'm not the only one that has a list like that. And that's not a word I use lightly. After A Little Life. Aphorisms on Love and Hate. Sidles ...

Hi, my name is Katherine Ann Porter. I'm a writer who also loves and collects antiquarian books. I hope you enjoy your visit to my website. One tiny book in poor condition, from 1820, inspired me to write a novel,. You can find information about the story here as well as other adventures I embark upon in my writing life. Living with a huge library I also sell some books- those I can part with. Some of my blog postings will be about the triumphs and despairs of locating a new home for an old book.
