One Day | The Book Vine
https://thebookvine.wordpress.com/2011/12/02/one-day
Friends, Books and Wine. I just finished reading One Day, by David Nicholls. The quick and dirty breakdown:. Overall, I enjoyed it; it had unexpected moments of laughter and tears, and I would recommend it- although it did not make its way on to my favorites list. While it made for a quick and engaging read, there are many moments when I was sad, and even annoyed. If you are looking for a true, breezy, chick lit love story, this novel is not for you. Why I enjoyed it. Dexter and Emma spend the night toge...

Friends, Books and Wine. Hush – Eishes Chayil. I just read a really, really incredibly book. The author’s name is a pseudonym for “Woman of Valor.”. She purposely never names the sect, because she thinks the blame is shared by all of these communities. It was an incredibly upsetting, moving and infuriating book. Thing They had never heard of Oprah. Books like this are so, so important and it’s such a big part of why I am so open and supporting of Young Adult fiction. Funny, engaging writing. It was clear...

The Name of the Star – Maureen Johnson | The Book Vine
https://thebookvine.wordpress.com/2011/10/19/the-name-of-the-star-maureen-johnson
Friends, Books and Wine. The Name of the Star – Maureen Johnson. And I’ve met her a few times. So, I was excited for this one because not only is it one of hers, but it’s also both about serial murderers and ghosts. That’s like catnip for me! I did like this one, but I had a few gripes with it that would stop me from really recommending it. Funny, engaging writing. The setting – a boarding school in London. Playing with the whole Jack the Ripper thing. What I Didn’t Like. Just Liked It - Nothing Special.

In this psuedo-chain-letter thing called "The Next Big Thing", in which authors (purportedly) answer questions about whatever it is that they are working on. Seriously, go buy it now. I shall comply with my duty as Tag-ee and disclose the following in accordance with said duty:. 1 What is the working title of you current/next project?

The Book Vineyard | where fresh books are picked and where old books are as good as wine
Where fresh books are picked and where old books are as good as wine. January 28, 2014. Pages turned in 2013. My reading year was composed of an interesting mix of sequels, new releases, and classic reads. Some moved me to tears while others got me smiling for quite a while. I fell in love with many characters and I also wanted to strangle some of them. Haha! I didn’t reach my reading target for last year but I read 3 more books compared to 2012. Here are my 2013 reading escapades:. That plot twist in th...
