I'd Rather Be Birding!: Metamorphosis
http://birdsinmyyard.blogspot.com/2012/05/metamorphosis.html
I'd Rather Be Birding! Wednesday, May 16, 2012. I'm thinking a lot about metamorphosis tonight. It has been a long day and quite honestly, I'm ready to curl up in a cocoon and hope and pray I turn into a butterfly tomorrow. I said goodbye to a dear friend today. He was too young to die. Fifty-two years young with a family is just too young. My husband's cousin was something special. I mean really special! I'm not the only one to know this. The church was standing room only! So here are pictures of butterf...

I'd Rather Be Birding!: Be Still
http://birdsinmyyard.blogspot.com/2012/07/be-still.html
I'd Rather Be Birding! Wednesday, July 11, 2012. You’ll never believe what I love to take pictures of. Well, since you have seen the picture you have probably already guessed the answer to this question! Yes, I love to take pictures of mushrooms. More than birds. More than people. Why? They are quiet. They are still. They don’t really sway much in the wind. They are just fungus! When I’m done with this post that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to be still. I’m goin...8221; Jeremiah 31:3. I'd Rather Be Birding!: June 2012
http://birdsinmyyard.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
I'd Rather Be Birding! Wednesday, June 27, 2012. A Reflection of a Cardinal. The Northern Cardinal. Is he not the most recognized of all birds? I have long heard of Cardinals fighting with their own reflection, but never had I seen this behavior. I happened to be chauffeuring a handful of. Sweet teen-aged boys on a bottle collection. My role was to simply sit in the car. My son was among these band members anxious to. Get the whole thing over with. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing....

I'd Rather Be Birding!: Turkey Vultures
http://birdsinmyyard.blogspot.com/2012/05/turkey-vultures.html
I'd Rather Be Birding! Sunday, May 20, 2012. Look closely and you'll find the Palm Warbler. The birding on Kelly's Island wasn't the most spectacular we've ever had, but it was an adventure and every bird we worked for was a gift! Baltimore Orioles and Yellow Warblers were in great abundance! We were able to see a few other warbling migrants as well. I have to say my favorite sighting may have been this guy. I can hear you all saying, "Eeeeeewwwwwwww! Here are some of the highlights we saw, though. We we...

I'd Rather Be Birding!: The Usual Suspects!
http://birdsinmyyard.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-usual-suspects.html
I'd Rather Be Birding! Wednesday, August 15, 2012. I would like to announce that we are 90% moved! Good riddance to all that rubbish. It's time to get back to the business of life! So, here I am at a new house. New possibilities. New furniture. New floors. New birds? Speaking of suspicious behavior. I'm guessing this guy is up to no good. Look at his positioning! I'm hoping he'll go for a bit larger prey than my House Wrens! August 15, 2012 at 10:28 AM. August 15, 2012 at 10:36 AM. That is one handsome k...

I'd Rather Be Birding!: From Caterpillar to Butterfly
http://birdsinmyyard.blogspot.com/2012/06/from-caterpillar-to-butterfly.html
I'd Rather Be Birding! Monday, June 11, 2012. From Caterpillar to Butterfly. Watching a Monarch grow from a small egg to a rather large butterfly is one of life's treasures and mysteries! It is a bit like watching your own children grow from a lump into mature adults, but condensed into a much shorter time period with a lot less worries and expense! I only had one emergency run to get milkweed this round and almost missed out on his emergence into a full sized adult. I found my little guy under. In my ex...
