Strong in the Broken Places. Children, Writing, and the Silent War. Review Wednesday: Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets to the Universe. January Thoughts: Coping With Loss. January 13, 2015. I don’t know what to do with this death any more than I know what to do with any other death. But I know that we all have to come to some agreement with death, sooner or later. And I know that death is something that many children have to deal with. So what can we do to help a grieving child? What can we say?

What is it? So what is marriage today? Is it a series of tax-breaks? Is it a moral imperative that we are no longer good enough to stand up to? Is it a temporary commitment that allows us to form a household and see to the caring for of children in a more or less joint way, but that no longer really can be expected ...

May 21, 2013. Process: MY story. THE story. Perhaps it’s because I fear that I should have a process, and don’t want to admit that really, I have no idea what the heck I’m doing. Just when I think I have my story nailed down, I’m back in the thick of it again. Process is the way in which a story is birthed. We all do different things in order to conceive of a story: Sharon Darrow. Wrote about hearing a voice that comes from a specific place and how those are inseparable; Ingrid Sundberg. North American Time – Clattering Bones
http://www.clatteringbones.com/2014/07/29/north-american-time
Living Somewhere Between the Now and the Not Yet. North American Time, VIII. Sometimes, gliding at night. In a plane over New York City. I have felt like some messenger. Called to enter, called to engage. This field of light and darkness. A grandiose idea, born of flying. But underneath the grandiose idea. Is the thought that what I must engage. After the plane has raged onto the tarmac. After climbing my old stairs, sitting down. At my old window. Is meant to break my heart and reduce me to silence.

Living Somewhere Between the Now and the Not Yet. I Saw Those Eyes and I Just Knew That I Knew You. I had the chance to write for the Next Church blog. Recently, and wrote about a bit of my experience working with ROSMY. The piece is below. Oh gosh, it’s good to see you, Betsy said. I saw those eyes, and I just knew that I knew you you. I saw those eyes, and I just knew that I knew you. What might the Church be like if we used ROSMY’s model as an approach to ministry? August 6, 2013 at 7:03 pm. Subscribe...

Thoughts on worship, leadership, and life for broken people. Tuesday, March 20, 2007. I wrote this about two months ago, the day I found out I'm gonna be a daddy. We're now three months in and enjoying every minute of it. Thanks to all who are supporting us; who are going to make sure our kid has the best life ever! How can this world apply to me? How can I be worthy of a term that means so much? Yet this is all overshadowed by my joy, my excitement, my triumph! I have been successful in carryout God’s f...

Strong in the Broken Places. Children, Writing, and the Silent War. January Thoughts: Coping With Loss. January 13, 2015. My freshman year of college, my new roommate and I were comparing notes. As a child, I lost family to depression, cancer, and other diseases. I lost friends in car crashes and to drugs. But my roommate had never been touched by death at all.
