The Chook Blog

Sunday, July 8, 2007. Have I mentioned "The Couple"? The night before last they did not come home. Ro-roh. The next morning I was working outside during the morning, so kept an eye out for them to see if they might wander back. Eventually I see the guy bird, Guthlac. He's running up and down the front lawn carrying on an absolute treat. He just keeps squawking and squawking and calling and calling. So I think, Oh dear! Pega didn't come home – something's happened to her. Thursday, July 5, 2007. The new s...

The Chook Blog: Snake proof enclosure

http://www.thechookblog.blogspot.com/2007/07/snake-proof-enclosure.html

Sunday, July 1, 2007. The new sideyard is almost done. We have been working on it for almost 2 weeks, although this week it's been mostly Paul working on it, while I work in the garden – but because they're right beside each other, I can drop what I'm doing and go help out, and we can visit each other for the occasional kiss! The fencing is quarter inch "hardware cloth" – wire really – totally and completely snake-proof – I'd like to see any snake get through that! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Chook Blog: Hawkeye lays an egg

http://www.thechookblog.blogspot.com/2007/07/hawkeye-lays-egg.html

Thursday, July 5, 2007. Hawkeye lays an egg. Is that so remarkable? You bet it is! Hawkeye is our “handicapped” bird – a few sandwiches short of a picnic, but the dearest, sweetest bird. She has been known to fall asleep on my lap while I meditated. Anyway, we’re very proud of her. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Last Coach.you'll ever need - one on one computer training. The Chook Blog: Little and Big

http://www.thechookblog.blogspot.com/2007/06/little-and-big.html

Saturday, June 16, 2007. Little is little. Failure to thrive is what one might say, except that he is. Thriving - he runs around, eats, drinks, sleeps. He just doesn't grow. And we have started bringing him into the house at night, not for the warmth so much as that we fear he would get trampled all over by the bigger keets in their night enclosure. To keep him company we bring Big in too. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The Last Coach.you'll ever need - one on one computer training.

Angel Feathers: Very sad news

http://liznews.blogspot.com/2007/10/very-sad-news.html

From a poem by my husband. Thursday, October 25, 2007. John Walden, the husband of my sister Maggi, died last Friday. He was 44. Maggi is - well, what can I say? Maggi is suffering. And it breaks my heart to see her so. And there is nothing that I can say or do. Except sit with her. Like Job's friends. I had jumped on a plane as soon as it was evident that things had gone awry. So I arrived at the hospital a few hours before he died. And can stay with her till after the funeral. When is the funeral?

Angel Feathers: September 2005

http://liznews.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html

From a poem by my husband. Monday, September 19, 2005. But better late than never! I've got whole heaps of things to tell about the summer, but that'll have to wait - if I don't get. Thing on this site, it will only get. So This is the start of my fourth week back at school. I have to say, going back to school was really hard. And if I'm honest, I would say that it's because the summer had been. Anyway I'm relaxing a bit now (having had a couple of meltdowns in the first 10 days!

Angel Feathers: I love my garden

http://liznews.blogspot.com/2008/06/i-love-my-garden.html

From a poem by my husband. Tuesday, June 17, 2008. I love my garden. The other reason for writing is so that the last sad post about John should not be at the top of my blog any more. Maggi was here for Christmas (5 weeks! And it was the beginning of a healing time for her, as well as wonderful for us to have her here. She is back in England these days and has just recently moved from the house she had lived in with John. Still in the same area, she now lives in an old Police Station! I love my garden.

Angel Feathers: March 2007

http://liznews.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

From a poem by my husband. Monday, March 12, 2007. Last week was spring break. I've been super busy though - doing lots in the garden with spring coming on and lots of lovely weather, and also school. I wonder if I will ever lose the joy and delight of seeing those first shoots - every time something comes up I am so thrilled. I am so amazed that those things should grow - partly that I should have done something successfully garden-wise, and partly at the miracle of creation and re-creation. We're going...

http://liznews.blogspot.com/2007/05/we-are-grandparents-of-approximately-20.html

From a poem by my husband. Thursday, May 31, 2007. The rest of the day was very mellow - we went to a nice co-op for lunch and then came home and laid in the hammock in the shade for most of the afternoon - meditating, snoozing, reading, talking. Ian (Paul's oldest) and his girlfriend, Valeda, came over for a cookout - and it was just one of those evenings where you keep saying afterwards "oh, wasn't. That a nice evening? So we will be "The Deepings at (or "of"? Check it out - I'm really pleased with it.

Angel Feathers: May 2009

http://liznews.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

From a poem by my husband. Sunday, May 17, 2009. Paul and I are coming up for our third anniversary! 160;- and that we have made together. Also, we are very interested in living in community and our 5 acres is not enough to invite other people to come and build. Well, then late last year the economy tanked and we just assumed that our house price had tanked with it, and that we would have to wait now until prices went back up again - maybe a wait of several years. . Those of you know us and our home know...
