Having a consultation offers the practitioner/therapist an opportunity to sound out ideas, hear new ones from an outside source and generally take a moment out of the workplace to breathe. Unlike supervision, it is down to the practitioner to decide what, if anything, to take back into the work. I have also undertaken training in Life Coaching and integrate these techniques in consultation.

Imago, from the Latin for Image, is used here to mean the image formed and stored in our memory, mostly unconscious, of our primary caretakers e.g. parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, family friends etc. Anyone who had a significant part to play in our early years of growing up may be relevant to this "Imago". At its worst this method is a good technique, when practiced regularly it can become an art, and at its best it's a spiritual experience.
