Don’t bother. If it’s your only cider choice, just drink something else. 3 out of 5. Recommended. It’s not going to change your world, but you’ll be able to happily down a few glasses. 4 out of 5. 5 out of 5. Essential. Complex enough to hold your interest and well balanced so you can drink glass after glass.

Eve’s Northern Spy is totally dry and quite carbonated (bottle conditioned I think). Sugar and candy apple on the nose make the dryness startling at first but definitely welcome after a few sips. When I try to explain to people how cider is not a replacement for either beer or wine, but its own category altogether, it’s this cider I’m thinking of. The nose is by no means assertive. There’s just enough fruit to remind you you’re drinking cider accompanied with some astringency from the tannins and a hint of alcohol. It’s mature and inviting. This cider is a peer to those gems.
