The Civilized Engineer: What I've been reading.
http://www.thecivilizedengineer.com/2016/01/what-ive-been-reading.html
Bringing Civility to Engineering and Engineering to Domesticity. Saturday, January 2, 2016. What I've been reading. One of my favorite activities is reading and one of my goals this year is to read 50 books. I'm well on my way and thought it'd be worth while to share what I've been reading! Although I have to say, people rarely ask me what I've been reading. Perhaps I should be a little less long winded about it. As I mentioned, Daemon turned out to be a series. This is the rest of the book. I enjoyed th...
The Civilized Engineer: July 2016
http://www.thecivilizedengineer.com/2016_07_01_archive.html
Bringing Civility to Engineering and Engineering to Domesticity. Thursday, July 7, 2016. Four Worst Children's books. These are books that are spared the trash pile, but certainly get hidden behind the rest of the books that I like better. These books are the books that makes me crazy for one reason or another:. 1 A Fish Out of Water. 2 Books with flaps. 3 The Night Before Christmas. 4 Construction books that call Excavators diggers. I understand that there are regions that refer to this piece of equipme...
The Civilized Engineer: An Introduction to my Co-Op Preschool Experience
http://www.thecivilizedengineer.com/2015/07/an-introduction-to-my-co-op-preschool.html
Bringing Civility to Engineering and Engineering to Domesticity. Thursday, July 23, 2015. An Introduction to my Co-Op Preschool Experience. When my son was about 18 months old, and his little brother was born, we began exploring the idea of a more organized group for him. We had participated in library story times and a few classes, but we were looking for something a little bit more intentional. Secondly, I wanted to expose my son to a regular group of kids to help him start developing interpersonal rel...
The Civilized Engineer: An Incredible Getaway Part 1
http://www.thecivilizedengineer.com/2015/11/an-incredible-getaway-part-1.html
Bringing Civility to Engineering and Engineering to Domesticity. Sunday, November 22, 2015. An Incredible Getaway Part 1. I was feeling a bit disenchanted about a month ago. As a result of other trips that came up, our family vacation was postponed again this year. I looked at my calendar and realized I hadn't had a real break from work since the baby was born. We needed a vacation. The thought of researching and planning a trip and then flying with the kids was incredibly overwhelming. As always, I had ...
The Civilized Engineer: What I've been reading: Goal Check In!
http://www.thecivilizedengineer.com/2016/02/what-ive-been-reading-goal-check-in.html
Bringing Civility to Engineering and Engineering to Domesticity. Monday, February 15, 2016. What I've been reading: Goal Check In! Check out my first Goal check in Book Review here. I absolutely love having a goal to read books. I love reading and having it as a 'goal' makes it so easy for me to make a bit of time for reading (or a lot of time as my reading list probably shows.). Since my last update, I've read the following:. 19 How to Talk so kids will Listen and Listen so Kids Will Talk. I read this o...

Welcome to Nathalieland: September 2016
http://welcometonathalieland.blogspot.com/2016_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 30, 2016. 10 Posts a Month. If you're a regular reader and a keen observer of my blog, then you might have noticed that this year I've published exactly 10 posts every month. It wasn't intentional at first, but after the first few months I couldn't resist keeping it up. Gotta love order and consistency! And you can bet I'll do the same for last three months of the year. I spent most of today working on a fun decorating project (which I'll surely blog about in the near future). When the ...

Welcome to Nathalieland: August 2016
http://welcometonathalieland.blogspot.com/2016_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 30, 2016. Emily's pyjama party was on Saturday from 6:30-8:30pm. Everyone showed up in their PJs and had a blast playing in the basement, snacking in front of the TV, and eating cupcakes for 'bedtime snack'. Rather than doing a short movie, we decided to play a few music videos of Emily's (and Jessica's) favourite band: Walk Off The Earth. This band deserves a whole post of its own! Walk Off The Earth. On to the pictures! Making the collage poster the night before. And Emily's surprise vi...

Welcome to Nathalieland: May 2016
http://welcometonathalieland.blogspot.com/2016_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 30, 2016. Talk about a crazy coincidence: the day before we hosted Jessica's animal-themed party, where we'd be making snake stuffies. We saw this little guy in our backyard! Can I come to the party? We were all ready to go on Saturday - just a few small things left like tidying the basement and baking the cookies and banana muffins (Jessi's request). Adding a sign to our Snake Shop. There ended up being two kids who had to cancel at the last minute (stomach bug! Friday, May 27, 2016. Jessica...

We decided on a whim to go take a look at it. This summer Emily went to a birthday party with Little Ray's, so we were familiar with their fun and interactive atmosphere. The show this weekend was a big hit! The girls got to see, touch, and hold lots of interesting reptiles and small animals. Dragon statue at the Frontenac Mall. Enjoying the chal...

A journey through life. April 24, 2015. To be perfectly honest,. I have been putting off writing a blog post about one of the most important stories of my journey… One that is so very close to my heart. A story of my personal River Journey that I carry with me everyday. I. Avoided telling this part of our journey because I don’t. Tell it with all the love and tenderness I have to give it. At least in this very moment. I’ve always known I wanted to have a family. I think that’s been the hardest part.

It's the end of another great year. 2015 was filled with good health, lots of family time, and some exciting events (a trip to Germany and Jessica starting school being the two major ones). Not to mention a bunch of firsts! Here are the monthly highlights from the year. Started with Jessica getting her ears pierced. And the girls going to see live theatre. For the first time. I started a drawing and painting course. Emily lost her first tooth.

Saturday, April 30, 2016. We don't visit downtown Kingston very often, so when we do it's quite the occasion! Emily and I enjoyed skipping by City Hall while Steve and Jessi checked out the Farmer's Market. Then we celebrated my sister's birthday with lunch at Lone Star. It was a big group with lots of kids! Enjoying her tortilla play-dough. Enjoying my tortilla chips! After lunch we tried to feed the ducks by the water. I say tried. Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Since Steve and I are on a crossword kick, Emi...
