Monday, February 17, 2014. Winning the Race: Tactical Monologue and Analysis of New Braunfels Road Race. By: Heath Blackgrove, Senior Consultant. How do you win a bike race? Is a question I am often asked and the answer changes every race and situation but for myself the first thing I try to figure out what I have to do to win. Monday, January 27, 2014. Nutritional considerations to performance: Beet juice and Nitrate supplementation. By: Grant Harrison, MS. Source Endurance Senior Consultant. Most of us have never said, “My diet was awesome, my teammates put me in a good spot to win, and my training was effective,” right? Building upon these findings, recent research has focused on how dietary nitrate supplementation may improve sub-maximal exercise, sever maximal exercise, and exercise at altitude. What this means is that our...

Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Crank length, What’s Your Size? Zack Allison, BS. Source Endurance, Senior Coach. What length is your road crank? If you are less than 5 feet tall you are likely running 165mm cranks. If your height is 5’5” – 6 feet you are likely spinning 172.5mm cranks. Over 6 feet and the length “standards start to vary.” 175mm? Custom length specially made? What actually makes these the right lengths for peak power and efficiency? So why do we not all run 180mm cranks? This is where we g...

The Coaching Chronicles: December 2011

http://thecoachingchronicles.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 16, 2011. Mid Season CX Musings. but coming a little late. As the cross (CX) season begins its final push towards Nationals and Master's Worlds, some random thoughts come to mind. CX is as much a learning process as it is an endurance sport:. At some point there is a limit to how many mistakes you can make before it affects your ability to ride unhindered through all the obstacles of a CX course. This can influenced by number and severity of the crash/ bobble but also by how much you...

Chris Wallace: Lincoln Cyclcross Weekend

http://chriskccx.blogspot.com/2009/11/lincoln-cyclcross-weekend.html

Monday, November 23, 2009. This past weekend was the Lincoln Cyclocross weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska. I opted to only do Saturday's race because of all the racing still to come this season. This race although not the biggest race is always my favorite race and favorite course of the year. The promoter, Troy Krause, always sets up a great course and the crowd on "Hooligan Hill" is always enthusiastic. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Looking ahead to the impact of USAC rule changes.

Chris Wallace: Back in Belgium

http://chriskccx.blogspot.com/2009/12/back-in-belgium.html

Friday, December 25, 2009. After a cancelled flight then many flight delays I finally arrived back in Belgium this past Monday night/Tuesday morning. I was amazed when I arrived to see alot of snow on the ground, something I guess isn't too common in this part of Europe. I've gotten settled in relatively easily here these past few days and have done one race since I've been here. Since then I have been just riding and getting used to life around the house. Race in Middelkerke, notice all of the snow.

Sense From Chaos: Cross Catch Up

http://sensefromchaos.blogspot.com/2012/10/cross-catch-up.html

Tuesday, October 23, 2012. We are in the swing of cross season, and i've been too busy to write up any race reports. Here is a summary of what has happened:. Hermann CX. I came into the season still working to develop my high end. This showed as I was not able to go deep in this race, and nearly blew up just trying to ride with the leaders. Cross Out Cancer. I finally had a good start and moved into the lead of the race only to immediately roll my rear tire and crash hard on the first lap to give eve...

Chris Wallace: USGP Mercer Cup

http://chriskccx.blogspot.com/2009/11/usgp-mercer-cup.html

Tuesday, November 17, 2009. Finally some time to update! Hard to believe how much school you miss from being for only 2 days. But the USGP Mercer Cup was an ok weekend. I met up with my teammates at the airport last Friday morning and before we knew it we were in Trenton, NJ. With a delayed flight, we ended up getting there too late to get in a ride so we were forced to ride inside. After this and dinner, we were all tired from the day of traveling so we all quick to bed. Also thanks to former manager of...

January 20, 2013 · 8:39 am. A Real Off Season. Another Velo luncher on Wednesday, but this time, in shorts and sunshine. It’s been too long. All of my writing has been focused on VN.com, and alas, this has fallen to the wayside. Been taking some serious time away from the racing scene, namely the CX crowd. I don’t even plan to contemplate racing for a couple more months. Training has been loosely structured by design, a design that has me. November 17, 2011 · 2:13 pm. USGP – Louisville. Newer posts →. November 17, 2011 · 2:13 pm. USGP – Louisville. Well that was a quick little trip, with very little to show for the whole thing except some time with my team and family. I flew into Louisville on Friday afternoon, went straight to the course, built my “B” bike. And headed out for a couple of laps with Joseph. The course was ripping FAST! Lots of open straights to rev the throttle up, and lots of fun, twisty, pump-tracky sections too. November 9, 2011 · 4:59 pm. Jumping off, or in? The last...

Monday, November 9, 2009. Grand Prix HPT and Veterans Cross. This past weekend we were greeted with some unusually warm November temperatures in Kansas City but it made it perfect for the racing. Overall it was a good weekend and my body is feeling good leading into Trenton next weekend and the beginning of the bulk of my season. Over the barriers on Sunday.
