Unfortunately some of the ‘remedies’ have been draconian and have involved taking children away. One of our book’s great strengths is that David and I don’t agree on everything, and I suspect he wouldn’t agree with me using the term ‘child stealing by the state! What to do as an activity when there are many competing items a child might enjoy? One of the simplest things is to simply let them be! Here is one of my grandchildren who, without any prompting from me, discovered certain sweets can usefully double as rings. What fun was had and lasting for about 20 minutes too.
