PHO-shizzle… my nizzle? | The Comical Hat
https://thecomicalhat.wordpress.com/2009/10/06/pho-shizzle-my-nizzle
MOA – the mag. Adios Mr. Wilson… and to all your fans. PHO-shizzle… my nizzle? There I was twittering away this morning when I stumbled on an ode to Vietnam’s prized noodle soup. Fuh) by a teenager named Pho (pho ) over at the ultra-prolific VietnamTweets. Sounds cute enough but it’s actually an ode to himself and his sexual prowess. You see Pho is a rapper from Boston. He confesses he likes to be. Towards the end and that he’s full of. 8220;white stuff”. He cranks out the un-. 8216;, pho-. Joint and get...

MOA – the mag. PHO-shizzle… my nizzle? Head this way…. Necrophilia we know but pseudo-necrophilia? Where’s Sigmund Freud when you need to be laid across a chaise longue and have such complicated matters of the heart and mind explained to you. He — Sigmund — might be able to get to the bottom of the curious tale regarding Le Van, the 55-year old farmer, who hails from Ha Nam town in Thang Binh district of Quang Nam province. You see old Van has apparently been sleeping on or with his wife’s remains. Well,...

MOA – the mag. The editorial board of. Used to manage another blog called. For the record it wasn’t a misspelling of Pit Stop but a misspelling of Penelope Pitstop. One of our founding members, Yorkie Pittstop junior, isn’t actually called Yorkie Pittstop, he made that name up in honour of Penelope, so it’s his fault that our entire life as bloggers in the Pittstop days was spent smiling for the cameras under a typo. Yes, we do feel a bit silly. From 2003-2006 include…. Tay Ba lo —. Two stories about Tet.

The stalker | The Comical Hat

MOA – the mag. Adios Mr. Wilson… and to all your fans. In tribute to an old friend returning to Hanoi, I’ll post the below flash-fiction story which is actually more accurately described as a flash-non-fiction piece as it’s pretty much a highly exaggerated and slightly embellished “true” account of how he ended up stalking his own stalker when he was living here back in 2004-5. None of the actual people’s names have been changed to protect their identity. 2006 or 2007 Hanoi. Feed for this Entry. Brillian...

Hanoi Scratchpad: July 2010
http://hanoiscratchpad.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 31, 2010. Da Nang By Day. Seen from the air, Da Nang (Đà Nẵng) is built on a stretch of coastline from which two small bites have been taken out: one by Da Nang Bay ( Vịnh Đà Nẵng. To the north, and the other to the east by the South China Sea. The resulting land form is shaped like an apple core, with the Sơn Trà Penninsula at the top and the city itself at the foot. The Han River ( Sông Hàn. The town itself is fairly ordinary at first blush. Definitely a small city and not a large to...
Hanoi Scratchpad: Evening in Da Nang
http://hanoiscratchpad.blogspot.com/2010/07/evening-in-da-nang.html
Thursday, July 29, 2010. Evening in Da Nang. With fewer than one million people, Da Nang ( Đà Nẵng. Is Vietnam's fourth largest city, after Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Hai Phong ( Hải Phòng. Da Nang is one of the cities I visited on my inaugural trip to Vietnam, in 1991 (see The Road to Hanoi. And Hue ( Huế. It is the first time since 1991 that I have come down into the heart of this country, and I am anxious to see not only how it has changed, but what dormant memories may be jostled by returning to th...
Hanoi Scratchpad: August 2010
http://hanoiscratchpad.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Huế is a relatively small city, but its historical and cultural importance gives it a justifiably big attitude. These divisions, and Huế's significance, have their roots in Vietnam's often tumultuous history. Throughout the 16th and much of the 17th century, Vietnam was engulfed in a power struggle between the Trinh Lords ( Chúa Trịnh. In the north and the Nguyen Lords ( Chúa Nguyễn. In the south. Their dividing line was the Gianh River ( Sông Gianh. Huế's proximity to the 17t...
Hanoi Scratchpad: March 2010

Thursday, March 25, 2010. Up till now, I have steadfastly refused to discuss phở. The national dish of Vietnam. It's been a wise decision. Like New Yorkers with their pizza, Hanoians take their phở. You'd best remain silent. After 11 months, however, I have begun to understand something about Vietnam's national dish. The validation of this came last week, when Hương at last showed me how to make phở. Not just any phở. And make no mistake about it: phở. From one that is euphoric. Preparations are alike...
Hanoi Scratchpad: Hoi An
http://hanoiscratchpad.blogspot.com/2010/08/hoi.html
Wednesday, August 4, 2010. Hoi An ( Hội An. In 1991 was one of the highlights of my Vietnamese sojourn. In the intervening years, it has become a must-see destination on the backpacker trail. I had heard of its development into a tourist locale, and was curious to see how much of its historical charm had been lost. In narrow wooden boats and I'll be damned if it isn't picturesque. Just remember that basing your opinion of Vietnam on places like Hoi An leaves you with a warped picture of what the country ...

Vietnam Adventures: Bad Vietnamese wife
http://teamfroz.blogspot.com/2010/12/bad-vietnamese-wife.html
One year in Vietnam (Un an au Vietnam)! Stories from an Australian and French perspective. Tuesday, December 14, 2010. It’s hard to be a good Vietnamese wife, they set the standard pretty high. Me, for instance, I’m French, but I live here in Vietnam and I am a wife, which unfortunately makes me, to all my Vietnamese friends and neighbours anyway, a Vietnamese wife by default. Let me give you a few examples. How could such a thought even cross my mind? 8221; she lamented. 8220;No, but… Hien…&...Once, she...

The comic addiction
Monday, December 10, 2012. I have read only few series of Superman: secret origin because it seems to be repetition and has been done so many times. The work of Grant Morrison’s one page origin is All-Star Superman is very much sufficient for me. While looking at the other side of Secret Origin, I found that there is no any secret in the whole story. Only by careful notification I guess there are only few changes in the new series for just continuity. Monday, September 3, 2012. Comic con 2012 Koozies.

News & Opinion. TV & Movie. Review] Nobrow’s 17×23 Series: Fish, Lost Property & Vacancy. April 27th, 2015 Filed under: Comic-Book Review. Nobrow’s 17×23. Series is a “project designed to help talented young graphic novelists tell their stories in a manageable and economic format. The hope is that, while the series encourages artists to write one-off stories, [it] can act as a springboard for more ambitious projects.”. Originally conceived in 2010, the format brought forth comics like Ouroboros. And if I...

The Comical Doctor
A blog about sitcom writing and doctoring. Monday, April 6, 2015. Plan it or free wheel! So here's how I work it these days:. 1 I free wheel a structure in prose form, just as it comes out of my head. 2 I look at this for as long as I can, adjust, change correct. 3 When I can bare it no longer I write the script. 4 Finally I'll look at what I've done from a McKee perspective and see if I've hit those beats. I'll only do this thought if there's a problem with the script. If it works, leave it alone. At th...

June 08, 2013. Clearly I have never watched any of the Rambo films before (there was more than one, right? Actually Donald looks a little more like Richard Simmons here. That might not be a good thing. June 08, 2013. I’ve decided that today is Donald’s birthday. It’ll probably be on a different day next year because I know I’m going to forget. Comics, Culture, and Cinema. Why Does Hollywood Hate You? June 26, 2015. After the surprise success of Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World. In its opening weekend, Esquire. Made an interesting observation: Hollywood seems to have developed a self-loathing problem. Films like Jurassic World. 8216;s Oscar win earlier this year, but there’s one thing about the reading I’d take issue with. Hollywood doesn’t hate itself; it hates us.
