Jaycee was adopted along with her two siblings by a loving family of five after spending the first 8 years of her life being passed from home to home, many of those homes being unfit for children. She had been exposed to alcohol in vetro, and had fetal alcohol syndrome. Between the fetal alcohol and the hypervigilance due to her trauma, Jaycee was lost much of the time at home and at school.
