The Creative Cubby

Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Honestly, You Don't Need That Stuff. In preparing for my move from Arizona to California, I became overwhelmed by the sheer volume of items I owned. My closet was packed with clothing, shoes and bags. I couldn't keep my jewelry contained to one organization system. I had craft supplies everywhere - literally, everywhere: my craft storage cubes, the storage closet, my bedroom closet, my nightstand, in a bin next to my couch - everywhere. What do I want to keep? The Creative Cubby: IKEA Expedit Makeover

http://thecreativecubby.blogspot.com/2013/09/ikea-expedit-makeover.html

Wednesday, September 11, 2013. When my husband was a bachelor and trying to fill his first house, he went the way of most 20-somethings and purchased a slew of pieces from IKEA. While at the time I had to be okay with it { not my house, not my money. Marriage has forced me to acquire a bunch of furniture I never would have purchased for myself. For instance, 8 Expedit units. Oh joy. No offense, Expedit. but. I'm just not that into you. So here's the good news and the bad news. Bad News first. this pr...

JabberJawsBlog: What Marriage Equality is Not

http://jabberjawsblog.blogspot.com/2015/06/what-marriage-equality-is-not.html

Saturday, June 27, 2015. What Marriage Equality is Not. Yesterday, in a historic decision, the Supreme Court determined that banning same-sex marriage was unconstitutional, consequently legalizing it throughout the country. The reactions were. mixed. This debate is not new to the United States nor is this an issue that will fade quietly into the night. However, as I scrolled through my social media feeds, I was struck by how misunderstood the concept of marriage equality is. Marriage Equality is not asso...

Saturday, November 1, 2014. Book Review : Fairy Tale Interrupted by RoseMarie Terenzio. I can't begin this book review without starting with how this book made me feel. This book was relatable, powerful and raw. and achieved a great feat - it made me cry. Disclaimer: If you're looking for Kennedy fanfare, you will be sorely disappointed. Monday, December 30, 2013. Fitness Log: 12/30/2013 - Elliptical and Strength. I felt good going into the gym. I had a positive attitude and was ready to do work. And I certainly did some work. I upped my elliptical level and ramped up my speed. I also powered through the entire workout without giving in to the little voice in my head ushering me to slow down. Elliptical Trainer - 25 minutes @ Level 5/6. Seated Row - 10 reps x 3 sets @ 45lbs. Seated Bicep Curls - 10 reps x 3 sets @ 30lbs. Treadmill (Joggi...

Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Book Review : "The Darlings" by Cristina Alger. Alger's writing style is superb. Reading like a cross between a thriller and a soap opera, she only gives you enough to keep the pages turning. Full of intrigue and odd character connections, I found myself wondering "Who dunnit? Even though it's not a murder mystery. In reality, the novel is a giant puzzle and you have to piece together the implications between all the relationships. Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Book Review : The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory. The sixth and final book in Gregory's Tudor series The Other Queen. My OCD required that I finish this book and thus the series. I feel like I should get an award for struggling through this one. There were multiple pages in this book that could have been eliminated entirely. Where was Gregory's editor? This book was lazily written, frequently repeating story points or just. rambling. My best assumption is Gregory wante...The f...

Monday, July 28, 2014. Fighting like an Adult. Every once in a while, I forget how to fight like an adult. My feelings get hurt and automatically, the gauntlet gets thrown. Whoever I'm arguing with doesn't stand a chance. They just have to stand there in their wrongness and be wrong, because I'm right and even if I'm wrong, I'm still right. Insane? You betcha. Trust me, my lack of rationality bothers me more than it bothers you. How? Because I can't shut it off. I love to be right. Who doesn't? I should ...

Wednesday, August 20, 2014. Book Review : The Queen's Fool by Philippa Gregory. Gregory's fourth book her Tudor Series The Queen's Fool. However, I did appreciate the picture Gregory painted of Mary and Elizabeth. Both characters were familiar and in line with my understanding of how the two women were. The next novel, The Virgin's Lover. Focuses on Elizabeth and hopefully will not disappoint as much as this one did. Book Review : The Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory. 8592; Newer Entries. Wednesday, April 15, 2015. Earning My Wings : Training Week 13. Week 13 was spent getting back on the horse, working out like a normal person and not a crazy person. I went easy on my knees by doing elliptical and cycling workouts. I also spent more time toning and doing yoga to strengthen up those important muscle groups. That being said, after a great series of workouts, I took a little break in sunny San Diego for some relaxation. Not a single work out was completed and I'm okay with that. Leading int...

Wednesday, January 14, 2015. Happy New Year - Recap. I think last year I said I would blog more, so naturally I blogged less. 2014 was a HUGE year for me. Kicked it off with trapeze class, Hawaii, pancakes and booze art show, opened my etsy shop, started my website, presented at RAW, ran a half marathon, art shows throughout the summer, a camping trip in the Redwoods, a solo weekend trip to Portland, new job, new art, new adventures. It was an amazing year! I can't believe it been a year already! I tosse...
