Passion for sewing, fashion and fabric. A bit about me. Author: Susan Young Sewing. A Moneta dress to ‘party’ in! March 7, 2017. I haven’t made anything by Colette patterns before but I’ve heard about the Moneta and when I saw friends Elle (@ sewpositivity. And Rach ( @rach wain). On Instagram had got together and were organising a ‘Moneta party’, with enticing prizes, I thought I’d enter. At the same time! I already had 2 metres of a really nice geometric design Ponte from Backstitch. I made a quick toi...

Flamingo: The new power print | Sewing & Snacking
https://sewingandsnacking.com/2015/07/05/flamingo-the-new-power-print
A great place to share your wearable and edible makes. Sports day and sun hats. Flamingo: The new power print. July 5, 2015. This week has been scorchio but I’ve been tearing around the country for one reason and another and as temperatures peaked, I found myself at a standstill on the M1. Damn it! Last week and bought what they had left – 2.4m. I then set about finding a pattern that would show off this beautiful flamingo border print and work with 2.4m of cotton fabric. So, armed with my new flamingo p...

A great place to share your wearable and edible makes. Mini midweeker – well, you want to see the beachwear, right? Flamingo: The new power print →. Sports day and sun hats. June 27, 2015. I’ve been lying low recently doing something a bit different! I’ve been taking an online sewing course with Tilly and the Buttons, learning how to sew jersey tops. So what is the pattern? I’m glad you asked, it’s the new Agnes top, a lovely little jersey number with ruching! The cost – I probably used about 1 1/2...

The music's not there to save the world - it's there to save your life. Friday, 12 September 2014. It's Not Over Yet. No, OWOP is not quite over, but it's the last day, so I'm going to do a quick round up of the skirts I've worn this week . And finally, Friday. I only finished this today - I couldn't go out until I'd hemmed it up and could wear it out! Same venue as Wednesday - The Creative Sanctuary. In Hertford, although I didn't actually get the fabric there, this is from Belle Fabrics in Leigh on Sea.

The music's not there to save the world - it's there to save your life. Sunday, 31 May 2015. Days 30 and 31. Although I was only going to my beading group today, which doesn't normally involve any dressing up, I thought I'd have a fancy frock day - SewLaDiDa Sweetheart dress. I love this dress - it's one of my few dresses which suggests I really do have a waist - although sadly you can't tell from the photo cos I forgot to remove my jacket (second hand from a vintage fair). And I've finished another bit ...

The music's not there to save the world - it's there to save your life. Sunday, 31 August 2014. When I read Dolly Clackett's last blogpost. I remembered that for about two months I've had a Mortmain. Pattern cut out, tacked, and ready to sew, in the same typewriter fabric. I'd spotted the fabric in my lovely local shop, The Creative Sanctuary. And I had to have it, and seeing Dolly's fab version prompted me to sit at my machine and finish it before the summer's gone. Cardigan. Having made several lit...

The music's not there to save the world - it's there to save your life. Sunday, 12 October 2014. I had a couple of good days out this week - on Tues I went to the V&A. With my cousin to see the exhibition of wedding dresses - not the most inspiring exhibition I'd seen there, to be honest, but we both enjoyed our visit, and agreed that we preferred our own dresses to any of those on display. I especially loved the designs of Nicky Barfoot. Who specialises in 'knitted doggie taxidermy'! Small world, eh?
