(Almost) Real Life: Ups & Downs
http://www.mattandcissy.com/2011/05/ups-downs.html
A bit of what happens in our family. Sunday, May 8, 2011. Where are the well-mannered, helpful children hiding? Didn't I laugh at disaster just yesterday? Why is everyone crying? That tug-of-war, to and fro, bi-polar. Case in point, try out these unedited excerpts from my journal:. Dallin and Nate played happily together with Legos today. That's always worth noting. It was actually about 2 hours! I didn't disturb them even though it was resting time! My brain is leaking out, I'm pretty sure. I'm eati...

A bit of what happens in our family. Tuesday, November 9, 2010. October 21, 2010. 8 lbs, 1 oz. Greeted the next morning by siblings and cousins, none more excited than big sister, Jamie Beth. This photo of Nate reminds me of another photo of another big brother holding a little sister. Matthew was also 3 years, 8 months old when he became a big brother. Calmly leaving the hospital. Best position for a long nap. She does open her eyes! We like her very much. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My Happy Little Life.

A bit of what happens in our family. Wednesday, June 30, 2010. Yesterday I spent the entire day preparing for the Relief Society picnic (which came off very well, I think) and expected the kids to basically take care of each other. To make up for that, and to reward them for doing such a good job being ignored by me, I declared today "No Chore Day". I added that they did. A picnic at the playground with cousins. A trip to the PERC (a place at the library that loans games and educational activities).

A bit of what happens in our family. Tuesday, August 10, 2010. Matthew and I play word games together. If he wants logical- chess, checkers, rubiks cube- he goes to his dad; but for word games, I'm his girl. Last Sunday I lay down my hand, confident that my valuable q. Cards would win the round. What kind of word is that? Matthew didn't want to give up his lead. You can go look it up if you want.". He actually sighed. "No, I know it's a word because it's you. Revelation #1- He trusts me.

A bit of what happens in our family. Thursday, July 28, 2011. This summer I've been moving from one fantastic book to the next, all the time wondering how long this winning streak will last. I get recommendations from many sources, and I like to keep track of my lists- to-read, currently reading, read, children's books, etc.- on goodreads.com. It's also a great place to play armchair literary critic. Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption, by Laura Hillenbrand. There now, ...

A bit of what happens in our family. Tuesday, October 19, 2010. The kids have varied responses and thought processes concerning the upcoming arrival of their sibling. Matthew keeps his eye on the goal:. So when are we switching the bedrooms so I can have my own room? He's also interested in the birth process:. With his hand on my stomach during a random, painless contraction) "Does that mean it's time to go to the hospital? Jamie Beth is observant of my condition:. Dallin is ready and prepared:.

A bit of what happens in our family. Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Me, pregnant, 17 weeks. You don't need a picture, because I'm going to paint one for you:. The constant nausea is gone now, has been for about three weeks. (Yet the house looks just as bad as it did during those weeks I spent most of my time on the couch.). Just exhaustion, lethargy, inability to style my hair beyond the ponytail. I don't remember being so useless at this point in previous pregnancies. Have I forgotten? Or am I getting old?

A bit of what happens in our family. Saturday, September 4, 2010. Me, pregnant, 34 weeks. The clock is ticking.that's really my main thought every day. I have a mental list of all the "must-do" projects, and I'm procrastinating until the painter comes. I tell myself I can't set up a crib, organize baby clothing, hang pictures or curtains, find a new carseat, sew blankets and burpcloths.until the painter comes. I have no excuse for why the pantry isn't yet organized. Yes, I do. I'm busy gestating. I get t...
