For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come." Hebrews 13:14, ESV. Sunday, December 25, 2011. I woke up this morning to the sound of a hair dryer. I live in a house with four other girls, so that's not terribly unusual. I stretched and rolled over. and then realized I had no idea where I was sleeping. Backtrack, backtrack, backtrack. I'm in Cincinnati. That's right. Sleeping on the futon in what used to be my bedroom. Ok. I closed my eyes again. OH WAIT! After stockings, we ligh...

Translation: SPEED UP YOU CAN STILL MAKE IT! Translation: The driver with the biggest vehicle goes first. Translation: Wait. we have those? Left Turn Signal On. Grinder of Flax and Fearless of Snow. Tuesday, January 31, 2012. The Horse and His Girl. Courtney and Cody, a real-life love story. We picked out our Christmas tree the first weekend in December, and found the perfect tree we named Gandalf. I don't have a picture of him. I did, though, capture Courtney and Sam turning into macho-girls. Then, Santa left me the perfect Christmas gift. Or, rather, he left Mosby the perfect gift. Or he gave Mosby…himself? S gift for me, which was The Bread Bible. The best pa...

Further Up, Further In. Newer posts →. Eli Update: April 2013. July 29, 2013. Wow It has been a while since I have blogged. I basically just do this as a personal family record now, so sorry for anyone who wishes I did it more often. Eli was hanging out in a car and fell out onto the concrete. He was fine. Just scraped up his face a little. He is all boy and tough. Will me maybe have a tap dancer in our future? Eli really likes ice cream. What kid doesn’t? Like a good boy, bringing mommy a pretty flower.

My golden year (the year you are the same age as your birth day). My actual birthday was pretty cool. Abby was very nice and got me a few “day of” gifts. One was our traditional giant birthday card. Abby also blew up a bunch of balloons to have at the house. Eli LOVED them and played with them a ton. He really like to a) lay on them and b) kick them. This ent...

Further Up, Further In. Books of 2013 →. A nice moment at breakfast with Uncle Matthew. August 12, 2013. My brother Matthew came to visit us in Indiana for a week in July. There were a few days, Thursday-Sunday, that Abby was gone to visit a friend and Matthew and I had Eli duty. We had a great time together visiting the park (multiple times), playing outside, and generally just hanging out. There is one moment I want to remember forever. This entry was posted in Eli. But if case anyone does read this I guess I will say a few words about each book. Books Read in 2013:. 1 Serve God, Save the Planet by Matthew Sleeth. 2 Beautiful Outlaw by John Eldredge. 3 The Time Machine by H.G. Wells. What a weird book this is. Mid-century fiction is so very odd. 4 Love Does by Bob Goff.

Monday, August 10, 2015. We're closing in on the final couple weeks of summer vacation, and I'm a little blue. I always have trouble letting go of our kids in the fall- school just takes up so many hours of their day! It's one of the few ways in which I am thankful to be a muggle: At least they're still living at home! Until Christmas, so I suppose I'll console myself with the fact that I still get to see them everyday at 3:20 pm. Into three short weeks, the hopeful effect being our children will be good...

Thursday, May 24, 2012. When I consider your heavens, the work of our fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? The longer I am a mother, the more I find myself relating to David in his psalms. It seems I am constantly crying out on behalf of my children. I learn more and more every day just how small and out of control I am. Welcome to motherhood, huh? Thank goodness for prayer! So what else is new with us?
